If you can access the bolt with a dremel tool, you can grind new flats in the sides and try a slightly smaller six pointed socket. If you have an arc welder, you can weld another good bolt to the top of the rounded off bolt head and use the head of the good bolt to undo it.

I am replacing both headlight assemblys on my 2001 pt cruiser. i have the grill off and almost all of the bolts that hold the bumper on execpt for the 2 on each side under the wheel well(the bolt turns...

yes you have to drive a wedge inbetween the braket and the bumper there is a sguare hole in the bumper and at the top of bolt so to keep them together apply pressure so the bolt head stays flush with the bumper. even if not same a wedge inbetween usually helps. hope this helps you. good luck.

I just bought a used 1991 Pontiac Grand Am which has a 4 Tech 2.5 liter engine. I took the car to a shop to have the oil changed and was told that there is a "cylinder" or "canister"...

To remove the bolt with the rounded head I would try cutting a slot in the top of the bolt head. Cut the slot to fit the largest straight tip screwdriver that you can find. then use a pair of pliers or vise grips to grip the shaft of the screwdriver to put more torque on the screwdriver (it helps if the screwdriver has a square shaft. If you think that the bolt is too seized into the engine block to try that, another thing to try is to weld another bolt to the head of the original bolt, (I would use a wire feed welder) so that you have an undamaged bolt head to use a wrench on (preferably a strong socket wrench). If you do weld another bolt onto the original bolt, make sure that you let the bolt cool down completely because when you get the bolt hot, it will expand and will not break loose until it has cooled. Have a fire extinguisher handy and good luck. Hope this helps.

How do you replace the starter on a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo 4cyl 2WD?

Remove the battery earth cable. Engage parking brake and chock the wheels. The starter is on the lower rear left hand side of the engine. Remove the starter supply cable by undoing the 13mm nut on the rear of the solenoid. Unclip the start wire on the side of the solenoid by squeezing and then pulling the connector plug. Undo the mounting bolt on the top of the starter first. and remove. Then the bottom one. Doing it this way round will make it easier to undo the bolts by hand once loosened.
Pull the starter to the front of the car and remove.

Tryin to take a starter off and can't get the top bolt off?

try some liquid wrench or pb blaster penetrating oil and let it soak. using a breaker/cheater bar. if the bolt head is rounded off, try using a damaged fastener removal tool such as grabits.

How many bolt studs hold the head to the 2.0 liter engine.. 2003 hyundai tiburon.. Also, my 10MM allenhead doesn't seem to bite enough on the bolt.. do you recommend anything to help get it off without...

hi their should be 10 bolts holding the head on and the tool you need is an inverted torque socket these are needed to undo the head bolts using an allen key would just thread the head and would mean drilling the head bolts out which is a night mare, so dont use allen keys as they will not be strong enough to undo the head bolts without threading the head bolts.
as for the gearbox as long as you have undone the 2 at the top and the ones either side and the bottom bolt you should then be able to remove the gear box from the engine, the problem with your car is the gear box has not got much room to come away from the engine far enough to allow you to get it out, you may need to undo the engine mountin bolts to allow you to have a bit extra room you may also need an engine hoist to support the engine whilst removing the box, you may get away without one but it will be difficult.

make sure you have removed the drive shafts from the gear box and also the starter motor and make sure the speedo drive is undone and also the electrics for the reverse light if this is located at the top of the gear box.

Himself has tried to replace the battery on the 03 frelander. managed to get the top bit holding the battery off but the bolt holding th batery into the clip won't undo - just spins around any ideas?!

If you are talking about the battery clamp bolts turning, then put a screwdriver in the split of the clamp and try to put turning pressure on the screwdriver and at the same time undo the nut of the clamp bolt. Or if you have a pair of mole grips, clamp the bolt head and undo the nut. Worst case , pry the clamp off the terminal and use a hacksaw and cut the bolt in half and remove it , fit a new bolt after. Hope that helps

Frozen cylinder head bolt

Depends were its frozen in the block or in the head
but yes get a good solid round bit of either steel or brass and put it on the head bolt and hit it hard a few times and it should start to move ,,,
When it starts to move undo 1/2 turn then 1/2 do it up and keep doing it a bit more each time till it comes a lot easyer when about 3 turns out spray with 10per cent oil and 90 percent petrol mix and waite for 10 minutes and out it comes
