I had a similar noise and it ended up being the alternator bearings. Unfortunately, can't replace just hte bearings, so needed to get a new alternator ($520). Get a remanufactured alternator if this is the issue - much cheaper.
I think I have the solution since this happen to me and I was driving myself crazie until I find out the solution by myself-It is not a technical problem or anything like it. Just lift the driver seat in away that doe not touch the hidraulic that is under the seat and try driving the car then...I am positive that it won't make noises anymore. Carlos
Hi normally when the brake has weared the indicator will touch the wall of the brake disc so change the brake pad the light will go and if it does not go use scanner to clear the light after the replacement of the brake pad.

Is it a squeel or a hum / rumble? 1st run your hands around the tyres especially the inside. Check for hi and low spots on the tyres. If the tyre is hi low hi low hi low it makes a shocking sound. if it is a squeel noise have they checked your brakes cause brakes have squeelers to let you know they need changeing
It sounds like you have a worn or streched belt making the sqeeling noise. Whenever you turn on a
device in the car that draws a fair amount of voltage
ie. a/c or headlights it will cause increased drag on
the alternator and if you have a loose/worn or glazed
belt, it can slip around the pully making the squeel.
To adjust the alt-a/c belt loosen the mounting bolts
on the tensioner, then use the adjuster bolt behind
the tensioner pully to loosen and tighten the belt.
Be sure to check the belt for cracks bald spots etc.
While the belt is loose spin the pullys to make sure
they all spin freely. Also I would replace the belt just
to be sure. Hope this helps
If its a lite squeel and goes away when brakes are applied. Have you had front brakes put on recently. If you have and the rotors were not replaced and turned. Alot of mechanics don't do the final cross hatching on the rotors when they are done turning. This will barke in the pads wrong and cause this even with expensive pads. It will cause premature glazing and have a squeel that will drive you crazy.
YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE BRAKES...ASAP
The sqeal was the brakes warning you that they were getting low, when they were sqeeling all the time, they were telling you they were about gone. Now that they are grinding, you will most likely need rotors as well. Get them replaced asap !
sounds like to tightened the belt to much... back off the tension on it a little bit, with the belt, you want it tight, but not to tight,,,, it should have about 1/4 flex in the belt when tightened... make a little loose and see if you still have the squeel... if you still do try going to a parts store, like pepboys, autozone etc. pick up some brake cleaner it will be in a canaster, and while the engine is running spray a little <spirts> on the pullys, and see if the squeel stops, if so then it could be a bad bearing in the part... see what makes it stop... the brake cleaner will dry quick and not ruin anything cause you do it in short bursts do not use wd40 or any oil type of stuff on it cause it will cause slippage...
Don't know if this helps. Had squeel in belt area. Occasionally engine would stop when squeel got loud and sometimes engine would try to quit while going at various speeds. Found tensioner pulley was bad and changed it. Still squeeled and engine would stop when squeel got loud. This time while sitting in yard. Further checking found binding in power steering pump. Will be putting on new one tomorrow. Hope it works. Will update.
