2000 - battery light comes and won't turn over

Taking over this car and the battery would not turn over the engine. The battery light is on and no other indicators lights are on. Used some one elses battery and it started right up. Removed that battery and took mine to be charged. Battery was dead.

Got another good battery and installed but it would not turn over. everything turns on but the battery light still comes on. I think the prson that took the battery out did something to it.

Does anyone know where I can get a layout of the fuses and relays. I don't have an owners manual and the identifier sheet is missing.

What I really need a owners manual that shows the lay out of the fuses and relays and which is which. I think some one took one out.

The battery I put it was tested and charged. The engine never would turn over. i was told that the OEM was not getting power.

Would anybody have owners manual that they could fax the pages that show the relay and fuse layout. 843-628-4595 is my efax.

If you can send thoses layouts that would be grate. The fuse bos is missing the paper with the names for each fuse.

The "battery light" is an indicator lamp for the alternator that charges the battery.
Was the "good" battery you put in charged?
When the key is in the ON position (not running but on), the light should illuminate to show that the warning lamp bulb works, it should go off after starting the engine.
When the vehicle is running, if the the "battery" light is illuminated its a warning that the alternator is not charging the battery. A new alternator is needed here.

If the lamp goes off when running I suspect your battery is faulty.

I can get u those pages tomorrow - I am at home now and all my ALLDATA is at work... I should be home early thoygh as its only forecast for 9Degrees tomorrow - I don;t want to work on cars in that temp!

I would think that someone may have put the battery cables/jumper leads on backwards which will blow the ignition fuse.

The fuses are often listed on the back of the fusebox lid.

Note that there are often multiple fuseboxes in cars these days...under the dash, at the side of the dash where the door hinges are, under the hood in the fenderwells.

I'll still get you the diagrams though for future reference.

visual examination of the fuses wouldnt take long if u can find the fuseboxes....Later...Tim

I need an e-mail address to send diagrams to.

also I need the Year/Month from the label just inside the drivers door and the VIN number from there too.

    I assume its a 4 wheel drive.

I'll mail u straight back...sorry for the time I've taken to get back to you but I am in the process of moving house!

What is causing the battery to drain?

Running the car will drain the battery it if it's not charging ! An if your charging light is on it isn't charging ! Did you check power an grounds on the alternator ? There is a single heavier wire on the back of the alternator, this should have battery voltage ! You may want to take this to a ASE certified repair shop !
With the ignition switch in the RUN position, voltage is applied through the warning indicator I circuit 904 (LG/RD) to the voltage regulator. This turns the regulator on, allowing current to flow from battery sense A circuit 35 (OG/LB) to the generator field coil. When the engine is started, the generator begins to generate alternating current (AC) which is internally converted to direct current (DC). This current is then supplied to the vehicle's electrical system through the output (B+) terminal of the generator.
Once the generator begins generating current, a voltage signal is taken from the generator stator and fed back to the regulator S circuit 4 (WH/BK). This voltage feedback signal (typically half the battery voltage) is used to turn off the warning indicator.
With the system functioning normally, the generator output current is determined by the voltage of the A circuit 35 (OG/LB). The A circuit 35 (OG/LB) voltage is compared to a set voltage internal to the regulator, and the regulator controls the generator field current to maintain the correct generator output.
The set voltage will vary with temperature and is typically higher in cold temperatures and lower in warm temperatures. This allows for better battery recharge in the winter and reduces the chance of overcharging in the summer.
Battery Positive Output (B+) Circuit 38 (BK/OG)
The generator output is supplied through the battery positive output (B+) terminal on the back of the generator to the battery and electrical system.
I Circuit 904 (LG/RD)
The I (ignition) circuit 904 (LG/RD) is used to turn on the voltage regulator. This circuit is powered up with the ignition switch in the RUN position. This circuit is also used to turn the charging system warning indicator on if there is a fault in the charging system operation.
A Circuit 35 (OG/LB)
The A (battery sense) circuit 35 (OG/LB) is used to sense battery voltage. This voltage is used by the regulator to determine generator output. This circuit is used to supply current to the generator field (rotor). The amount of current supplied to the rotor will determine generator output.
S Circuit 4 (WH/BK)
The S (stator) circuit 4 (WH/BK) is used to feed back a voltage signal from the generator to the regulator. This voltage is used by the regulator to turn off the charging system warning indicator. The S circuit is fed back externally on external mounted regulator generators.

Engine start but ignition light on the dashboard off

It looks like you have posted several different questions on this problem but even reading them all together, it isn't clear exactly what the problem is. As best I can tell, you are indicating that the ignition warning light is not coming on when you turn the key to on but the engine is not running. Is this correct? It could be as simple as a burned out indicator light. This light is typically used to indicate that the alternator is not charging the battery so eventually the car will die when the battery voltage falls below the minimum to keep the ignition system functional. If your alternator is putting out (use a VOM on the battery while the car is running) and there are no codes, the first step should be to confirm the light works by jumping 12 volts to it - if not, simply replace the indicator light.

Check battery and see if it can be fully charged. If there is an indicator on the battery it should be green or measure the voltage with the engine off and see if it is close to 12Vdc. If the battery tests good there could be a problem with the electrical wiring or a bad device that draws current when the car is off. Glove box light gould be on, trunk light stays on etc...

First while running engine light came on. Turned off. Now will crank but will not start.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

From start to end troubleshooting these problems I suggest you to check the help link below and follow its procedure: -----

Mostly all types of car no start problems are discussed here with solutions:---

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

For more help, I suggest you to refer the help link provided below. These will let you know more about which areas to look, check, when there is engine light coming up on dash panel.

Why do i have engine block shape light on r.h.s. on my dash board of 2000 toyota sienna

That would be the 'check engine' light. This light comes on to indicate that there is an emission control malfunction detected by the vehicle's engine computer. This doesn't mean you need an oil change. When the light turns on, that means there is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) stored in the engine computer. I would recommend taking it to a reputable shop for diagnosis. It could be something as simple as your gas cap being loose. I would not recommend taking it to an autozone or any other automotive parts house for a "free scan". Parts houses sell parts, not diagnose cars.

It sounds very much like your battery is discharged, and does not have enough charge left to turn your engine over (the clicking noise is your solenoid trying to engage the starter, but it is not getting enough power to do so). The fact that your various little lights work does not indicate that you have nearly enough of a charge in the battery to start the car.

I think that if you have your battery charged (or replaced, if necessary), that will solve your problem. You might take the battery to Autozone or a place like it and have them check it for taking a charge (I don't think that charge for that).

Hope this helps you.

How to turn services light off for a 323 bmw

The way to reset any E46 BMW (3 series 1999-2005) is as follows:

Turn the car off and then hold in the odometer reset button on the left side of the dash. Turn the key to on but not start. Hold for a few seconds and the service reminder will show in the instrument panel. Release then double push the button and the service reminder will reset. If you just keep single pushing at that point, you will be surprised about all the information you can learn.
