Mitsubishi mirage asti 98 heating is gone, just blowing out cold air, but the temperature gague isnt over heating. any ideas what could be the problem??
yeah the temp is going up to half way up the gauge,
i braught it to a mechanic but i think hes a cowboy,
he never checked the fuses or the thermostat, he flushed the pipes and straight away told me that i needed a new rad for behind the dash.yeah the temp is going up to half way up the gauge,

You could possibly need a heater core. I would start with a thermostat usually pretty inexpensive fix.You could possibly need a heater core. I would start with a thermostat usually pretty inexpensive fix.

Is your engine temperature gauge reading normal? If not it could be a Possible head gasket. If it reads normal then could be a clogged heater core. Best to have system flushed out.
Sound like 1 of a few things. The easiest is air in the cooling system. Bleed it and while car is idling and heat is on full blast. (another posibility is head gasket gone bad)
Could be a blockage. Get an air-con specialist to blow the lines out. Check for any leaks from the rubber pipes. The twisting nature of AC pipes in cars can perish and if you have heard a blow out (like a tire blowout) the air con might have blown through a pipe.
the air conditioning system has most likely drawn moisture this is not good take it to have the system recovered and a new restrictor valve put in. leak checked and recharged
the heater switch on the dash activates a valve allowing hot water into the heat exchanger under the dash. I think the valve is not opening so the heat exchanger stays cold. The linkage could be faulty or the switch could be faulty.
the heator core has gone out this is a divise that uses hot coolent from the engine to heat the air that blowes tru your vents it is located behind the glove box some times it's tricky to reach look under the hood to find 2 hoses running side by side in to the fire wall on the passenger side to pin point the location
