Question about 2000 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Everything dims I have a similar problem with my electronics in my 2000 Ford Focus SE. Everything, lights, heat, windshield wipers are working inconsistently. The lights and heat just randomly fade out and then come back up. Seems to actually work better when the engine is high RPMs.

If that was the case wouldn't the battery light be on consistently? I thought it might be a ground wire somewhere because it is directly affecting the dashboard gauges also.

no it will not throw the warning light on all the time,as the voltage differential isnt great enough, its producing voltage but no amperage as the carbon brush isnt touching the commutator properly

2000 ford focus- windshield wipers went up but didn't return to down position. when I turn them on now I hear a noise that sounds like the motor is still working...help please...thanks.

Check where the pivots attatch to the wiper arm. There is a plastic cap you remove and under it is a nut, and if it's loose, you need to get the wiper motor to park...by turning on the wipers, and then off and wait untill it sounds like it has stopped. Then place the wiper arms to where they belong parked, and tighten the nuts.

I bought my 2000 ford focus off the internet but the problem is that nothing electrical works. i do not know why but the windows nor the windshield wipers nor the aircond. work. can you please let me know...

Check all fuses and fusible links in engine compartment fuse box and let us know the results. Also specify exactly everything that isn't working--is it the A/C blower or clutch? Wipers and washers? How about the radio? Door locks? etc...

I have a 2004 Ford Focus window won't go down / wiper problem

As far as the window goes, it sounds like your switch is going bad. If you continue to use as it is, the switch will keep getting worse and worse until eventually it doesn't work at all. So you will need to take the inner door panel off and replace the switch. Then the windshield wipers, sounds like a similar problem. However, this time, only part of the electronics are not working properly, but unfortunately you will have to change the whole thing also. The wiper switch is a little more complicated, so if you are not fully familiar with it, you would be better off to take it to someone who is.

Driver's headlight is dim; wipers only work if headlight is off

Sounds like the jolt from the barrier has caused a bad ground to occur. Look for a bad ground wire around the left headlamp in or around the headlight bucket.
Tighten or replace the bad ground wire. A poor contact will cause the headlight to light dimly.
