If you disconnected the battery incorrecdtly you may have blown some wireing that has then blown the speakers,if speakers are blown they sound really crackelly or dont work atall (disconnecting the battery would be taking the red wire (+) off first and incorrectly replacing the wires would be connecting the neggative first (-). its not herd off but it could be the problem??

Sounds like it's overheating although no idea of the cause. There may be an air duct for cooling it which is blocked/not getting airflow. Try SaabScene or one of the other Saab forums - someone there will probably be able to help you :)

No sound thru the radio or with dvd on pacifica 08

Either the amplifier (in the radio itself or possible external) is bad or the speakers are blown. If you have the premium audio system there should be a fuse in the underhood fuse box for the amp. There may also be a relay that goes bad ( caravans have a relay as well and the Pacifica is built on the same basic chassis) any car audio shop should be able to help you out if it is not the fuse.

Need the radio code to reset after battery was disconnected.

Afraid there is no radio code as such....the Saab headunit is paired to the car with Saab Tech 2 software.
A dead battery swap shouldnt lose the radio if it was working before you changed the battery.
Have you checked the fuse for the radio?

You should also post on Saabcentral

Check all battery connections, the ground stap from motor to body connection, battery ground to motor and body and battery to starter connections. It could be bad starter also

What you were hearing is internal feedback (like microphone feedback but electronic) causing the output section to act as a power oscillator which can sometimes occur additionally at ultrasonic frequencies along with those you heard and consequently fry the output section. The power output section is normally in modular form and not too tough or expensive to replace but I think it is the victim, not the cause which can happen anywhere in the audio path either by lousy design or the degradation of electrolytic capacitors in the audio path.
Depending on the reserve power capability of the speakers installed, they may also be damaged.
Unfortunately, I think the labor cost would be excessive and the repair perhaps not even permanent; replace it yourself or go shopping for a new system.
