Hello... please help with my mercedes E300 1992. the seat belt warning light in the overhead keeps on flashing on and off even when the car is turned off. it never go off even when the car is on. i also noticed that the seat belt in the driver's sear is not working... you can test this by pulling the belt hard and fast and the belt will automatically lock. all other seat belts are working fine when doing this. is there a connection between the unending flashing of seat belt warning light and a defective seat belt. hope you can help me. i'm going nuts searching for an answer and troubleshooting... many thanks!

Is this light on due to having the battery disconnected or did it just come on?

Belinda, could be a bad wire,plug,seat belt switch/sensor. Have a good tech. diagnose and estimate repair. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

Not surprisingly, many others have experienced problems with the ignition switch on this car. Historically, it is not a sound, but that the key is stuck in the ignition. http://repairpal.com/key-will-not-come-out-of-ignition-570 Your problem sounds different, but it may be related. Although I do not recommend the fix in the link above, it is possible the previous owner of your car did perform this fix and it has resulted in the problem you now have. My better guess is that the chime/buzzer has failed due to moisture or dirt and is no longer producing the sound that it should, but instead is altered to the ringing you describe.To disable follow these instructions:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1
minute)
Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
3. For the seating position being disabled, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state.
(Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.)
After Step 3, the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt.
This will disable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it
is currently enabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
This will enable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it
is currently disabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will
flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the
light off, then followed by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times
per second for 3 seconds again.

dont think you can it should reset itself when you turn ignition off and on again but its a merc so no doubt its done like this so its a dealer only job ,hope you have lots of wedge to pay the dealer

I would check the relay go to benzworld.org or peachparts.com for similar articles that could speed up your troubleshooting process.

I have same problem. I used to have the SRS (air bag) light flash. But the light does not show anymore (burned out?) and now I get the 25 chimes.

take wire harness apart underseat that connects to seatbelt on drivers side. then take a piece of aluminum foil and stuff it into male part so it makes contact with both prongs and plucg connection back together..problem solved!!!!!!

This is straight from my 2009 f150 owners guide

Preperation
1. the parking brake is set
2. truck in park
3. ignition switch is in off position
4. both seat belts are unbuckled

Disable Belt-Minder
1. turn the ignition switch to the on position, DO NOT START THE ENGINE.
2. wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (approximately 1 minute).
* step 3 must be completed within 50 secs after the safety belt warning light turns off.
3. buckle then unbuckle the seat belt nine times, ending in the seat belt unbuckled.
* after step 3 the restraint warning light, (airbag light) will turn on for three (3) seconds.
4. within approximately seven (7) seconds of the light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
* the restraint system warning light will flash four, (4) times per second for 3 seconds for confirmation

you can do this for the passenger side also!!!


*NOTE
in step 3. after three times buckling and unbuckling the restraint warning light lit up in my truck. SO I WENT TO THE NEXT STEP, (STEP 4). waited 3 seconds and i buckled and unbuckled.

in the buckle /unbuckle procedure do it some what slowly and watch for the light. it may not take 9 times.
