Im in turmoil !!. I recently bought a '99 Rover 100 Knightsbridge 1.1. Ive had a problem starting in the morning. I turn the key and can hear a clicking but get no turn from the engine. To me it sounds like the starter solenoid not getting enough power. I believe I have a faulty battery but can bump start the car, drive it for 5 mins, shut it off and it will start fine. Note also that when I keep trying to start the car it gets to a point where the alarm and radio reset, this make me sure I have no charge in the battery but Im not sure if thats because of a faulty alternator or not ? Any help would be most apreciated..

Take the car to quickfit, they will do a free brake check and,if required, fit front pads, rear shoes.Metro not good at breaking anyway, stops wheels from locking too quick....also as your car is fairly old change the discs as well.will make all the difference.
Unfortunately, there is a trick to replacing the battery.
1) Open the Driver side door.
2) Open the Bonnet and take the battery cover off.
3) Use your remote to lock and unlock the car (keeping the driver side door open)
4) Pull the Negative Lead from the battery first, followed by the Positive Lead.
5) Change or replace with charged battery.
6) Closed down Bonnet.
7) Your windows, sunroof, and key FOB will not work... so follow the next steps.
7a) Insert your key, with door closed into the exterior lock on driver's side.
7b) While turning the key to lock the door, hold down the "lock" button on your remote for 5 seconds while in "lick" position
7c) Your remote will reset, and you should be able to use your remote now
7d) While driving, roll each window down twice. On your third attempt, you should only have to touch the window button, and the window will have reset
We have just slved our mystery about not starting. It is the key. the no1 key is the 1 that is in synch with the comp. it will cost a fair bit to get new key and then have it aligned with systm. find original key, and you are laughing. Jean.
I just finished installing a new system in my 94 100s.To make it easy for me I bought a direct-fit connection kit from Crutchfield online. The connection fits into the one from your car and then you just wire it into your new stereo! I hope that helps.
