    I had the same problem with my 94 Legend. Replaced the thermosta, then the water pump and finally did a pressure check of the whole system to discover that the #6 cyclinder was leaking. Had to replace the engine.

Car is running hot added coolant runs fine for a while today I was adding coolant to the reserve tank and saw a hose that is loose but can't find where it should be connected. When adding coolant it...

  • There are two hoses on an Antifreeze reservoir tank.
  • One is to allow escape in case of unexpected back pressure or overfill of the reservoir.
  • The other will be a hose that clamps on to the radiator right below the cap on a little spout coming off the fill neck of the radiator. This hose is the actual path the antifreeze takes when the radiator is low pressure pulls the antifreeze out of the reservoir to use.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

How do i check or know if i need a new oxygen sensor for my 1988 acura legend

What you do is pull the engine error codes. On the other hand, oxygen sensors can be replaced, based on time. A good running engine keeps the sensor hot enough to last a really, really long time.

My 1994 acura legend is running hot and the coolant is spelling over from the tank. What is the cause?

the biggest problem with the 3+liter honda engines of old is the weak head gaskets used on them..very rare you dont find one smoking or over heating..while the car is cool remove radiator cap and look for trace of oil.then start car with cap off and look for air bubbles.if either then its a bad gasket

How do i bleed coolant system on 1994 acura legend?

USE THE GENERIC METHOD BELOW WORKS FOR ANY CAR.
The generic method of bleeding air from the cooling system is to use a floor jack and raise the front of the car as high as poss, then fill the coolant recovery tank full and run the engine until it just starts to overheat, high end of normal zone on gauge, then shut the engine down and run cold water over the radiator core, this will self bleed the system and the coolant will be pulled from the recovery tank, repeat as necessary, never let the recovery tank run dry or more air will be pulled into the cooling systeml

93 acura continues to run hot, the bottom hose isnt getting hot. i have changed the thermostat.

this is caused by a leaking cylinder head gasket or air in the sytem, if u did not bleed the cooling system follow this procedure, it is generic for all cars.
The generic method of bleeding air from the cooling system is to use a floor jack and raise the front of the car as high as poss, then fill the coolant recovery tank full and run the engine until it just starts to overheat, high end of normal zone on gauge, then shut the engine down and run cold water over the radiator core, this will self bleed the system and the coolant will be pulled from the recovery tank, repeat as necessary, never let the recovery tank run dry or more air will be pulled into the cooling systeml , if it still overheats then you need to have the head gaskets checked with a gas analyzer for hydrocarbons present in the radiator or recovery tank

My 1994 Acura Legend keeps running hot. Gauge

When the car is completely cool,check the electric fan(s) for smooth rotation.

Clean/check/change the thermo sensor,contact and wire.

===

Excavate air pocket in coolant system / check for head gasket leak

This test will kill two birds with one stone.

===

MAKE SURE THE COOLANT SYSTEM and ENGINE IS COLD!

RAN THIS TEST IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA ONLY!

You will spill some coolant during this air pocket purge test.......BE KIND TO THE ENVIRONMENT and ANIMAL please clean up after the test!

===

Put the front end on a pair of ramp or park your car on a VERY STEEP HILL (radiator facing top of the hill) .

Top of the coolant reserve tank

Let it ran for 10-15 minutes.

Monitor for air pockets escaping from coolant reserve tank.

Small amount of bubbles is OK at 1-5 minute mark

After the thermostat open up (after 195 F warm up) at
5-12 minute mark or after high idle you should see less bubbles.

If you do not see any in rush of bubbles then your thermostat may be partially stuck or rusted badly inside the thermostat hosing.

Give the thermostat host few gentle taps.

If you see larger bubbles surfacing after 15 minutes then should do a hydrocarbon (HC) dye test to test for potential head gasket leak.

Let engine cold down and top off coolant reserve tank.

Start monitor for coolant lost

===

A coolant flush is require every 2 years or 24,000 miles.

I recommend the thermostat that has a relief pop-let to reduce the change of burst radiator and coolant hoses.

Make sure you get a new thermostat gasket,black RTV and fresh coolant for the job.
