Heavy white smoke out of blow by tube and dipstick when under any kind of load. I climb a hill and get to top and pull over and heavy smoke out of those areas. Currently no oil or coolant consumption. 280000 miles. 3000 gallons idle fuel. engine sat for 2+ years before installed in my truck. Injector cut out test came back good. No excessive knocking or strange noises coming from engine. Also not missing under load.

Hi shwangod, you said it was a "heavy knock" and it began climbing a hill, could you give me a little more info, mileage, overall condition,2 or 4x4 am assuming this is a small block 350 cid, obviously there are different "knocks" for different problems, lifters do not knock they will click or rattle and are easy to adjust, a timing knock is the resultant effect of incorrect timing usually on the low side and is also easy to determine.A wrist pin knock associated with the piston boss pin can sound like a main bearing knock and is worse when the engine is cold and will subside as the engine warms up, the main bearing knock is the heavy knocking that doesnt quit and can lower oil pressure (operating) you can plastguage the mains to determine the amount of wear and if you are lucky you can roll in a set of bearings, when you drain the oil look for metallics, specifically brass, personally I am not a fan of upper or lower engine rebuilds but prefer to "Rebuild" the entire engine. I hope this helps you, good and let me know how you make out.

if the car is stock i would replace your oxygen sensor. you may also need to clean out the MAF sensor.

sounds like you have a cracked header or engine block. would take it to a mechanic quick

the head gaskets are blown you can believe that anytime on any engine gas or deisel that you get oil in the radiator and there water/ antifreeze in the oil pan the gaskets and or cylinder heads are bad

any time the check engine light is flashing the engine is missing, that is part of the resign for the black smoke and raw fuel, there is only two things that can cause this on a diesel ( other then a bad engine ) but in the fuel system it has to be a problem with the injection pump or the injectors and on the 6.2 my best guess would be the injectors, we used to replace allot of both but as you know it has been awhile sense we have seen any of the 6.2 it been awhile sense GM used them and that is because there was allot of problems with them, the most common problem we have seen lately is the pumps failing because of the new low sulfur fuel if you replace the pump the new one will be set up to handle the new fuel, but i think you have a bad fuel injector, you can test the pump housing pressure by installing a pressure gage in the test port on the side of the pump the pressure should be no more the 12 psi if it is replace the pump if the housing pressure is good replace the injectors.
