Well try and turn the ignition swithch with a pliars or screw driver since its allready wrecked you cant do much more harm. If that works then look just on the bottom side of the ignition switch there will be a small hole turn key off and use a drill bit and push up with some pressure and start turning the key on the lock clynder should come out when doing this.

you need to test the ignition wire on the solenoid the small one when you turn the key to start the car if the test light lights and the starter does not kick in yes its # 4 while holding the key in start position bang on the starter with a hammer it might start its a common problem with fords bad starter rebuilds and a lot of heat under the car but if you have no test light lit while turning the key then you have another problem like ignition switch or nuetral safety switch hope this helps

My car will not start but my engine stays on with no key in the ignition. My ignition switch turns all the way over with no fricition.

Not too sure what you mean. If the car will not start how can the engine stay on? Do you mean the car will not start and only the engine light comes on? It sounds like the switch in your steering column needs to be replaced. There shouldn't be any lights on if the key is not in the ignition. Call a reputable shop in your area and ask what they charge to replace an ignition switch in the steering column for your car. Hope this helps.
