The air conditioner compressor is a good place. Where one of the mounting bolts goes through the compressor to bracket. Just in case; the a/c compressor is on right side of engine as you face the front of the car.

Want start after sitting up for 4 months

Check wiring if all connected. Is battery good or does it need to be charged or jumped, 4 months sitting is a long time. Turn on headlights, hit starter, if lights go dim battery is low or bad.

How to jump start 2000 impala

Connect the battery to the battery of a donor vehicle with jump leads positive to positive and negative to negative, don't try to start the Impala, run the engine of the donor vehicle at a fast idle 2000rpm for about 10 minutes, then start the Impala. When it starts stop the engine of the donor but don't disconnect the leads for another ten minutes, this is to avoid an electrical spike to the electronics.

Went to jump my car and locks triggered how do i unlock my keys out of my car

You can try this little trick but you got to be fast, heres the problem you reset the computer and monitor,so when you do start the car because you have disconnected the battery the idle will be different so you will need three minutes run at part throttle for 1 minute, run ar part throttle with a/c on. and your done. Okay to get the key out carefully remove the positive terminal.(if it is safer to remove the negative first go ahead) negative post connected, rapidly touch positive terminal to positive battery post the moment the actuator unlock remove positive post do this rapidly.

Hi, I have a 2008 Pontiac G5 and I accidentally kept the lights on all day. Since I only have a positive (red) connection, I ground the negative connection to metal as well as the other car negative...

sounds like you are on the right track. Hook the jumper cables up to the dead car first. The red cable should go to the jumper terminal as you mentioned and a good place to hook up the black cable is the bolts on the strut tower.

then with the other car running hook up the red lead to the cars positive battery cable and then the negative to a good ground. Let the two cars sit for about 5 to ten minutes to give the dead battery a chance to charge.

Once the dead car is started let it idle with the lights turned off for at least 45 minute to an hour or drive it for the same amount of time with the light on (I assume you will be driving in the dark) or if its day time drive it for 30 to 40 minutes with the lights off. This should be enough time for the alternator to charge the dead battery.

2000 chevy malibu won't start. I have a two month old battery. When the car is off, after I tried to start it, I can still hear a buzzing noise in the dash behind the stereo. The serpintine, drive...

check the voltage to battery. battery voltage at battery should be be at least 12.6 or higher with car off. when running at battery should be at least 14.1 to 14.7, try this. get a jump start, then while running disconnect the negative cable to battery. car chould still run. but if it quits when disconnecting negative cable then you have an alternator problem. or the belt.

Vehicle was parked and not started for 2 months.

Hi, there will be diodes in the generator that are letting the power from the battery drain away through the parked times when not in use. to prove it charge the battery- then disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, connect 24 hours later and see if the battery as kept it charge, if so - fit new alternator, good luck.

Forgot lights on. Trying to jump start - no success. Using a booster pack which I plugged in to charge all night.

When using a booster of the type you are make sure you have a good clean and tight connectio where you are hooking it to the battery. If you do not have a good connetion the jump will not work , because no current is going from booster to your car. If your battery is too dead a jump will not work either the battery would have to be pulled charged and checked. The battery may have to be replaced. If this is the original battery and the car is a 2005 the battery is about due for replacement.

The battery is more than likely completely drained. Because those vehicles have so many electronic features, both mechanically and otherwise, they consume a lot of juice. If the car is going to be sitting for more than a month you are supposed to remove the long term storage fuse. It is located under the hood. Your owners manual will show you a picture of where it is. I would take the battery out, remove negative first then positive and have the battery tested. If the battery is completely drained it will not hold a charge either with the alternator or with cables. Just make sure you install the battery cables in the reverse order, Positive first then negative.
