Question about 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

1 Answer

95 Ciera Hesitates & stalls when warm

1995 Cutlass Ciera that once it warms up, will hesitate during a steady acceleration, almost like someone is pinching the fuel line closed. Run the car long enough (30-45 minutes), and it wants to stall when you slow to a stop. If you immediately hit the gas when it tries to stall, it will start running smooth again. Once you are at any steady speed, it runs well. Have recently replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, O2 Sensor. Engine light comes on too. Auto Zone cannot read due to year of car, have not had a chance to take to anyone else to read code.

Thanks for the tip. Finally got a scanner hooked to the car, turned out to be the EGR Valve. Changed it and the car is running better. The IAC lead me in the right direction, thanks.

Change the IAC the idle air control. You may be able to clean it and put it back on.

What makes the fuel pump not kick on on a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass

There is a red wire close to the battery in the front. It's not connected to anything. Apply positive voltage and that will run your pump for testing purposes.

1995 olds cutlass ciera 3.1 V-6 stalls when warm

Some times the fuel line may be too close to the exhaust manifold or engine and can create a condition called vapor lock. This is where the fuel is heated to a vapor in the fuel line. This is easily corrected by just moving the fuel line away from the source of the heat.
