Have the dealer go into "customize" in the computer to set the proper time for the auto lights.

2005 VW Beetle. Engne light on and EPC light comes on with significantly reduced power.

Sounds like all those sensors are going to need replaced. Basically, they are all in charge of metering the air and fuel to the engine, so if they are malfunctioning, the car isn't going to run correctly.

Trac stabilizer light on, check engine light on, engine power reduced

It's all tied together in the computer system . When you start to loose control the computer takes over reducing engine power , applying brakes etc... to bring vehicle back into control . The throttle body on your vehicle is computer controlled . electronic throttle control . the gas pedal has sensors , the throttle body has sensors an a electric motor . The lights came on because the computer disabled these systems .

Only way to be sure what is wrong is to have the computer scanned with a code reader or scanner to retrieve the trouble codes. They will direct you or a technician to the proper sensor, control, or circuit that is malfunctioning. Many national parts stores provide code reading for free.

Reduced Engine Power light, rough idle

Hello TMAF...

TRIED most of that TOO...

Finally my codes... said the OXYGEN SENSORS were complaining... OBD... DTC
(on-board-diagnostic... DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES)

So... of course I changed the... OXYGEN SENSORS.

The "NEW" OXYGEN SENSORS complained just as well...

I have subsequently learned the "SENSORS" are
just doing their job...

In my case reporting on a collapsed catalytic converter.
(muffler is actually a MORE common blockage).

A little hunting around... like Auto-Zone ... Napa auto...
Pep-boys... O'Reilly Auto Parts... even MIDAS might
yield FREE READINGs... (check around).

Just remember to wear your best SALES RESISTANCE...

and look up you prices on ROCKAUTO...
before you go... Hope this helps.

(Unless FREE, I'd make a SPECIAL note (YELP) on
that "shop"... THEY ARE CLOWNS...!!
(in my humble opinion... not MECHANICS)).

My Honda Accord 2001 Check Engine light came on this morning. What could be the problem?

check engine light is set when the computer gets bad readings from sensors. you can try an auto parts store to get a reading of why a light came on. autozone and advanced auto parts both do it for free. then you can get the parts from them to fix it. it would be about time for an oxygen sensor to go bad. this should reduce performance and gas mileage. any diveablility issues with the car? if this helps please reply and good luck

2005 suburban stabilatrac disabled

The Reduce Engine Power problem on my 03 Suburban went away when I had to replace the fuel mixing sensor. I damaged the sensor by topping off with E85 (ethanol) by mistake late at night. The vehicle just would not turn on in the morning. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. I was in Carlsbad NM about 800 miles from home. I had no choice but to pay $1,100 to get it fixed. At the same time the Reduce Engine Power problem went away. And thanks to God it has not come back for nine 9 months now.
