Question about 1994 Toyota Camry

1994 TOYOTA CAMRY MAKING "CLICKING" NOISE

I PURCHASED A 94 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM A CO-WORKER BECAUSE HE SAID THE CAR WAS GOOD AND THAT ALL IT NEEDED WAS A STARTER. HE SAID THE CAR WAS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE EVERY TIME HE TURNED THE KEY AND THAT EVERYONE HE TALKED TO TOLD HIM THAT'S WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE SOLD IT TO ME AND DEDUCTED $100 FROM THE TOTAL SO I COULD PURCHASE A STARTER. AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND PUT IT ON, I WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD IT TOWED TO A BUDDY'S HOUSE WHOSE DAD IS A MECHANIC, AND WHEN IT WAS PUT UP ON THE TOW TRUCK I NOTICED ALOT OF WATER COMING OUT THE MUFFLER. ONCE IT GOT TO HIS HOUSE, I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR WOULDN'T TURN SO THE MOTOR WAS NO GOOD. IS IT WORTH FIXING? IS THE MOTOR WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED?

Can I swap the engine from a 1995 Toyota Camry to a 1994; same model, same engine/trans?

ye s95 and 94 have the same engine just make sure they are the same size engine and swap em you wont have to do anything with the computer side. 94, 95 did not have anything run by the PCM such as anti theift training.

Possible tranny or engine mount. Check bushings. Check brake pad backing plates (loose), check brake pad movement (add shims), but most likely mounts. you need to torque the engine while an assistant checks for bad mounts.

Won't Start, just clicking

take the battery to get a load test done first, autozone does this for free where I live.  Sometimes a battery will still have 12 volts, but not enough amperage to start a car, the starter is the most demanding unit on the battery.  If it is not your battery, it is one of 2 things: a seized engine, or a bad starter.  I would say on a '94, as long as it hasn't been driven excessively hard, its not the engine.  you can take the starter out and have it tested as well.  Best of luck!
