2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo gearbox problems

Hello, I have a problem with the gearbox on my 2004 Cayenne turbo. When I drive smoothly there is no problem but when I push the pedal to the metal sometimes the gearbox goes very brutal on the changes and even when doesn`t have to change the gear. What should I do? Thanks...

I also have the exact same problem same problem on 2004 Cayenne..I have just been told that I also need my coils changed which could affect the gearbox but unlikely. if that does not solve the issue they will change my oil and casket or something like that. If it is still not solved they will have to change the valve in the gearbox and that part is £2500. I let you know how it turns out. If you fix the problem anytime soon pls let me know exactly what it was

I have the same problem when I push the pedal to accelerate, I experience heavy jerks/thuds as though the gearbox is going to come out of the floor, and the car jitters, a fighteneing experience when travelling on a highway at 70MPH. Porsche have suggested I should change the gearbox????

I have the same issue on my 04 Cayenne Turbo.  I was told that they can't check to see if the valve body is faulty or not, they just need to replace it.  So before I spend my money on this, what do you suggest I tell the techs to check before they take me for what I'm worth..??

    Thanks!

It should be noted that I personally do not own this car; my grandparents do. I've had the pleasure of driving it on a number of occasions though, and as I was the one who recommended it to them, I try to keep up on whether anything has gone wrong with it or not. And, to the best of my knowledge the car has been completely flawless. No reliability problems at all.

SOURCE: how do i change the

First, The Porsche Cayenne can have two batteries. The primary is located under the driver seat and the secondary is under the rear trunk/subwoofer. The battery that usually goes bad is the primary. Most auto stores will NOT change this battery for you because of location (Autozone, Pepboys, Advance, O'rielly, Napa). Its very easy to do but you will need a triple square 10mm bit (autozone or napa carries them)
Remove front plastic trim piece by pulling forward
Using triple square bit unbolt the front two bolts
Tilt seat back (helps to move the seat forward once bolts are removed)
Remove plastic battery protector
Remove/replace new battery
Make sure to plug the vent line back into battery

there should be a platen on the bottom of the motor on the driver side in front of where the transmission bolts on. It looks like it is a plate sticking off of the motor casting itself. Hope this helps.

My 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo blows cold air only on passenger side. Driver side works

I'm not familiar with this model so I'll go by the usual culprits. My guess is that the air duct to the passenger side has had its operating mechanism come off. This will entail removing the under dash kick trim and a certain amount of gymnastics to lie in the footwell while someone operates the heater controls, You should be able to see(with a flashlight) the control cables etc moving. It may be just a matter of clipping a cable or cable end back onto the flaps. If you turn the blower on you may find a part of the trunking displaced, by the rush of air into the dash and not down the vents.

Hello, I have a problem with my gearbox 2004 Cayenne Turbo - I can only drive In manual as it struggles selecting gears and get a jerking/clunking sound in low gears, I also have to turn the traction...

Sounds like a vacumn leak causing the shift points and idle speed to be affected. Look for off/or cracked vacumn lines/connections. Hope this helps,.

What is the good battery brand for porsche cayenne turbo

Interstate makes a good replacement battery. Be aware that the Cayenne turbo uses a water cooled alternator that fails and appears good, but drains the battery over a night or two. This brilliant design also takes out the waterpump when the alternator bearings disintegrate and spit metal bits into the coolant that ruins the waterpump seal. It took me two waterpumps and a new battery to learn this little gem.
