HAVING SOME ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. WHILE DRIVING, MY STEREO STARTED FLICKERING ALONG W/ MY LEDS IN THE DASH(ABS,THEFT). SO I TURNED ON MY HEADLIGHTS AND THE TRUCK DIED. IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP, BUT REPEATED THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCKS GOT 86K ON IT AND ITS A 2003, THE BATTERY WAS CHANGED ROUGHLY 9 MTHS AGO. WHEN I GOT HOME, I CLEANED UP THE TERMINAL POST ON BATTERY, AND STARTED IT UP AND TOOK THE LEADS OFF TO SEE IF THE ALTERNATOR WOULD KILL IT. WELL, IT DIDNT, SO I TURNED THE LIGHTS BACK ON WHILE LEADS WERE OFF AND IT STAYED RUNNING. PLEASE HELP BEFORE THIS THING LEAVES ME STRANDED. LOL

Hi Jason

So since you cleaned the terminals on the battery, have you experienced any sort of problem? If not, then I would think that cleaning them fixed the problem and you are over worrying about this, otherwise let me know

Not only is that test only good for "78 and earlier, liucky you didn't blow your alternator. Speaking of alternator, drive it to a parts store and have them do a load test on the alternator and then on the battery.

This sounds like you need to check wireing for a short circut (look for a bare wire touching metal (check headlight area first)!

check the abs system for relay and electrical problems
the clicking can be from a cycling relay and the head lights flickering from the power draw for the abs away from the head lights.

Strange electrical problems can sometimes be attributed to a bad ignition switch. The battery should also be load tested, especially if it is more than 4 - 5 years old.

We had an intermittent dieing problem. Worse when the weather was worse. The coil was cracked and shorting itself out intermittently on a rivet.

Flickering Headlights and Dim interior lights

Definately an electrical problem....first off, check the battery and alternator connections to make sure they are tight. The problem has to be before the fuse box because the headlights and interior lights are on different fuses. It sounds to me like a loose wire, corroded battery terminals, or an alternator that is going bad. An alternator is a relatively easy and cheap fix. They cost about $100 and require removing a few wires, 3 bolts, and the serpentine belt.
