I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY TAHOE. THE BLOWER WORKS BUT ONLY LUKEWARM AIR COMES OUT. THE TEMP GAUGE TELLS ME THAT THE THERMOSTAT IS WORKING. DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE COOLANT ISSUES. HEARD A SOUND WHEN I TURNED HEAT OFF THE OTHER DAY. HEATER QUIT WORKING YESTERDAY.

That was a good guess but if you temp gauge on the dash is normal then you don't have a bad t-stat. you probably have a bad heater control valve. It's what controls how much coolant goes into the heater core. Could also be a blend air door inside the heater box up under the dash. or a plugged heater core.
just had same problem with 2000 Buick regal , the thermostat was stuck open just a little , just enough so coolant didn't get hot ,so heater doesn't get hot .. not good on cold mornings !! temp gauge never went more than a quarter, should have been almost half
I have the same problem with my 2001 Tahoe. The front blower is working, its blowing strong, but its cold air even with the temp setting as high as it can get. The rear blows hot air. The engine temp guage is at about 210ish which is close to being normal (220). I just replaced the thermostate a few months ago, I don't know if its bad again, or it I deluted the antifreeze too much and it frooze the heater core, or if the heater core just went bad. Any one know what the cause could be?
No your thermostat is stuck open which will not hurt the engine. but needs to be replaced, the thermostat is what allows the engine get up to operating temp. before allowing water to flow through the radiator and when it is stuck open it doesnt allow the engine to reach operating temp. so the heater never gets hot. I hope that helps you out.
