I need year--make--model?
Make sure battery has a full charge, and battery connections all good? Charging system is operating properly. Check applicable fuses for instrument cluster, not only check fuse, check voltage at fuse circuit when problem is ongoing, check voltage and ground. Any applicable trouble codes?

Please make sure earth/ground points are tight and free of dirt and corrosion. especially knowing this is off road car. fuses are clean. charge relay is working correctly, main fuse CONNECTIONS are good. the fact that it happens when you move , means most likely a loose connection.

Alternator tests good wont charge battery

I'm sorry to say it could be the computer.
The computer controls idle speed as well as alternator output.
If the check engine light is on you should get it scanned for trouble codes.

My son 98 galant loses power while driving radio goes dead then gauges and then the car dies i think it may be a ground issue but not sure any suggest thanks Steve

Have the charging system checked after this just to check for integrity of the system. Start by checking to see if you need a radio code prior to disconnecting the battery cables (very unlikely). Remove each cable and clean the ends on the battery with a "terminal post cleaner" aka; wire brush. Once you have determined the cables are clean and tight, let me know. It really sounds like a poor connection or failing charging system.

I have a 2004 Hyundai elantra. When driving all my gauges turn off including my odometer and speedometer. My car loses power and the automatic trans. has trouble shifting. My battery completely dies,...

I am having the same problem with my 2004 Elantra. I have had the alternator tested twice and did replace the battery. This morning I had it running ad put a volt meter on it ( red to the battery pos black to the engine block) I did get a reading of 14 volts for about 30 seconds then the idle lowered and the voltage dropped to 12 volts. I tried this again later but could not get a voltage reading above 12 volts with the motor running. Any suggestions?

WHILST DRIVIN MY MX5 SLOWLY LOST POWER !! PLEASE HELP ME !! MATT.

Well...your battery is dead. Check the connections of the cables on the battery posts to make sure they are tight and clean (no corrosion). While you're under the hood, look at the belt (serpentine) that runs your alternator. Is it there? If it fell off, your alternator can't charge your battery. You may have a bad alternator, a bad battery, or no belt....but use a battery charger to charge the battery...your alternator is only designed to "maintain" the charge, not bring it up to full power. Good luck, alternators for the MX5 are spendy, so I hope it's one of the other problems.
