Rear window defroster not working Questions about the rear window defroster. I have about 4 lines, a gap and then the rest of the defroster. Top part does not work. I was told that this was an antenna. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

The top part is the antenna. If the whole thing doesn't work ck this out.

My defroster quit too. I found a wire burned in the connector that is found under the fuse box that is located inside the car on the passenger side kick panel.
You have to remove the entire kick panel to access the large white connector not just the fuse door. The panel just unsnaps as you lift up and out. Start from the panel seam beside the passenger seat and lift up and back. You'll also have to unsnap the carpet there too.
You'll see the white connector that has a lot of wires on it. If you'll unsnap the connector you'll see the burned wire. It will be thicker than the others and purple. Just cut the purple wire on both sides of the connector and splice them together with a piece of wire the same gauge and it will work fine.

Sorry.... You have probably scratched the wires crossing the window breaking a connection in the heated elements.... Check closely for damage to those lines. If they are damaged, the only fix is a new rear window...

My rear wipers, rear washer and rear defrost stopped working. I have changed the fuses. what else would cause these 3 to stop?

I had the same problem, 97 4 runner. I followed #1 solution: start engine, lower rear window, raise/close rear window. Turn off engine, restart engine and it should re-set. It did for me.

I have a 2003 dodge neon..and the rear defroster doesn't has a button for it..and it just shuts off and back windshield doesn't clear at all...even if I keep turning it back on it...

Yeah, I'd think it would have lines, too, unless some new way of doing it that I'm not aware of. Maybe the rear window was replaced with a window without the defrost option. There should be a small two wire connector coming out of the back shelf near lower driver's side of rear window. That would be the defrost connector to the window lines (that aren't there, lol).
Well, good luck with that! I think there are aftermarket kits for rear window defrost, though.

I have a 2002 chevy venture mini van. the rear defrost and rear windshield wiper doesnt work. possible reasons?

rear defrost will not work with the following reasons one the fuse could be burnt, 2 the wire going to the rear defrost could be broken, 3 there is a break in one of the lines on the rear window, 4 where the connector is to the rear defrost it could have either broke at the window or the solder let go

I have a 2003 Alero, replaced relay switch and fuse under the bonet for the rear defrost, all wires hooked lines broke.. rear defrost button lights up , but rear defrost dont work. Are there any...

There is a connector going to rear defrost on the rear window. Disconnect this and check for voltage with defrost on. If this is good, check resistance for the connection to window. This will tell you if the electrical is working or the element is bad for the window if there is a open reading on multimeter.

Rear defrost does not clear window

best bet would be if its under warrenty, even if its not, take pictures of the window when it starts to defrost, and make sure you can see the spots that it is not defrosting. a cobalt i had worked on needed a new rear windshield to fix the problem. it may work but it doesnt work. could have a couple bad lines in the defroster, or it could have wiring issues. but pictures say a thousand words when you are trying to get something like that fixed.

How do I fix rear defrost

if the leads on the window themself are broken(small gaps in the lines going across the window) you can get a special pen to connect the lines again , but if there is no power going to the defroster and the fuse is ok, then you have to fix the wire going to the defroster
