that vin shows 3L engine. 6 cylinders.
p2xyz is audi only oem factory codes and only their service manual covers that. not easy to lay hands on.
is this car in Germany ,UK or USA or?

it can stick in 2 positions when it failed
is stuck in idle mode, driving fast will fail. for sure banks out of balance like that,
and common , intake runner plates love to fail.

is anything I can do? Don't know , do you know how to test electrical circuit's using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Do you know what a wiring diagram is an how to read one ? but you never scanned it the 2nd time, maybe the gas cap is loose.
p2 is jeep factory only code (unlike p0,1)
so only jeep books get this correct .

is P2008 a rumor or did you see it with YOUR EYE and on what a real scan too?

if you clean it and it dont work, then its bad. replace it.
as for why the CEL glows now, you'd have to scan it again
mine has like 300 DTC's possible. so ID NEVER ASSUME its still P2008- not me , id scan it, any shop or store can scan it,
why wait, or guess or worry.?
or ask him to help, see if it is something new, or just the gas cap loose.

be clear as to all DTC thrown, and post them all.

Without knowing what car you have it gets difficult to be specific, however since usually p2008 is dealing with intake manifold runner control, and you have a high idle...Id say you may possibly have a loose or broken vacuum hose to runner control...with the vacuum off the runners cant be regulated...and the air leaking in through the bad/open hose will raise idle. check vacuum hoses and runner linikage

The key has a built in chip, not all cars have this but most do, this is programed into the computer system and is not something you can enter, the computer to do this is very costly , you will need the dealer to program or an auto lock smith.
