The fluid has used up it's life span, that is calculated in % by a small computer circuit that records things like load on the engine, fluid temperture and miles driven, when it calcultes that the fluid life has been used up 100% on comes the light, pretty trick system, my Corvette has a similiar system for engine oil changes.

Donna, check trans mission fluid level, top up if required and try reverse. When checking fluid, does it smell burnt, if it does it may be worn internal parts of transmission and need service or rebuild.

Automatic transmission fluid vw polo

The dash lights are powered by the battery through the ignition switch via a fuse. Check the electric connections and conditions of the wires.

Change the transmission fluid to solve transmission issues. Original fluid is always preferable as it is specifically designed for the transmission.

HELLO THERE I HAVE A CADDY DEVILL 2001 4.6 8C. MY SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT JUST CAME ON, CAN I ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR NOW? HOW MANY QUARTS DOES A 2001 CADDY DEVIL TAKE? WHAT KIND? THANK YOU

That light comes on just like a "change oil soon" light would come on. It's according to your mileage and has nothing to do with performance of your transmission. It means that the fluid and/or filter need to be changed according to regular maintenance.

Transmission is leaking from my 2008 ford escape. The VIN number does show that it was manufactured in Kansas, but because i am in Canada the recall did not include canadian owners.

What do you need? I would cantact Ford of Canada in back of owner manual with letter, not phone, if issue is the same. TEXT:

In some of the affected vehicles, the transmission fluid cooler may develop a crack in the tube below the right hand (RH) mounting bracket from thermal and vibration fatigue. This may lead to a small transmission fluid leak and possible rough / harsh shifts. Dealers are to inspect the transmission fluid cooler for a grommet and possible fluid leak below the RH mounting bracket. Based on the results of the inspection, dealers will perform one of the following service

actions:

INSPECTION

1. Using a suitable light, look through the radiator grille and inspect the transmission fluid cooler mounting bracket for a grommet behind the mounting bolt. See Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Inspection Result Service Action

Grommet present - No further action required

Grommet not present and transmission fluid cooler not leaking - Install transmission fluid cooler mounting bracket

Grommet not present and transmission fluid cooler leaking - Install new transmission fluid cooler.

Fixed check engine trouble code but light with same code comes on

Your transmission problem could be related to the TPS sensor. The TPS sensor indicated to the PCM when and what gear the transmission should be in. As for the Lucas and other additives to the transmission may be doing it more harm then good, As the transmission oil is thicker, the transmission line pressure increases. The PCM try's to compensate for that by letting the converter lock up clutch to slip and the fluid retention in the solenoid to change gears stick causing it to shudder between gear shifts. Recap, Check the TPS sensor readings and the Wire Harness. Look for loose connections and corrosion that may not be giving the proper readings to the ECM. Rescan the car for any DTC codes and most transmission chop can do that for you if your going to get it serviced there anyways. Have the transmission fluid flushed and filter changed, and have them do a transmission line pressure checked, there are additives out there to keep the fluid from foaming which is ok, but changing the fluid's weigh can cause transmission failure. Good luck and hope this helps and keep me posted, be glad to help.
