Question about 1999 GMC Yukon
Just bought a 99 Yukon SLE and put a new battery in the one remaining remote (seller lost the other one). Had to "re synchronize" with the two-button method, and it sort of works now.
I can't figure out where to stand to hit the pickup sensor, and I can't trigger it to lock or unlock from more than about ten feet away.
Is this an RF or infrared based signal ?
Where are the pickup sensors located on the vehicle?
Perhaps related, what are the possible causes for the rear glass not to release with a double click on the appropriate button.
Have you tried setting it up again! next you can get some info from calling your local dealer and describing your problem.the dealer is the one that volunteerd to tell me how to reset my security system.atleast the 2 dealers here by me were very helpful!

Tips for a great answer:
Feb 02, 2015 | Seat Cars & Trucks
Sit in the driver's seat of your Ford 500.
Insert the key in the ignition and turn it from "Off" to "Run" eight times within 10 seconds. The final turn should have the key in the "Run" position. You will hear the door locks engage; this means it is in programming mode.
Press any button on the remote; the door locks will engage again to confirm the programming. This must be done within 20 seconds of entering the programming mode.
Press any button on the second remote; the door locks will engage again to confirm the programming. This must be done within 20 seconds of entering the programming mode.
Turn the key to the "Off" position to complete the programming. The door locks will engage again confirming that programming is complete.
Decide on a series of five digits to be your personal code. Your code needs to be an easily remembered series or numbers.
Locate the keypad on the driver's door; it will be directly above the driver's door handle.
Press the buttons that correspond with the factory remote keyless entry (RKE) code. This code can be obtained from the dealership if it has been lost.
Activate the programming mode by pressing the "1'2" button within 5 seconds of entering the RKE code.
Delete the old code by pressing and holding the "1'2" button for two seconds.
Enter the new five-digit code that you created in Step 1. This must be done within five seconds of deleting the old code. The door locks will cycle when the new code is confirmed.
hope this helps you.
Hope this helps
