The airbag light coming on is telling you that a problem exists in the airbag system. you need it get it to a dealer or reputable garage and have the system checked. with the airbag system malfunctioning it is possible the airbag wont properly deploy in an accident or may deploy without warning

X3
get car serviced.
or scan the AiR bag system.
there is no other way.
any good shop in town, (ASE) can scan the bags see whats up
do not play with the system, air bags can kill.
why not read the manual on this.

WJ jeep 1999.
read restrains. but the free page above index is "bad"
so read this.
transmission 916kb)
bingo correct page.
its free, so , no way to complain, ( never look gift horse in mouth?)
read the first 3 pages about the dangers. first.
then read how to scan it.
my cheap innova 3160d , scan tool can scan bags.
SRS or ACM
does 1999-2013
you can buy one, rent one, borrow one, or get car serviced.
you will never guess whats bad , unless rich and lucky.
lucky to find it, and lucky not getting hurt.
RTM first, then leap..... and win.

RTM= read the manual.

Check into your clock spring. It will cause the air bag light to come on, the horn to stop blowing and the cruise control stop working.

The air bag light on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes on and off without reason. I was told by a machanic to get a "blow up belt / seat belt for the driver's side". He said this belt was only...

Not likely that the air bag will deploy without notice, its supposed to be a safety device not a hazard.
the light can mean the air bag(or belt) it may not work, or it is due for servicing, this can sometimes be when they get to 10 years old, if your model has the blow up belt it may mean the belt is out of date, pehaps the mechanic was correct.
You will need a specialist air bag tech, who will check or replace necessary items and restet the warning light.

"air bag" light keeps coming on. goes away when I

Try wiggling the seat belt receptacle on the drivers side. If not you will need to take it to get the air bag codes pulled so we can look at whats going on. Try beeping the horn also. There is a wire that brakes sometimes behind the steering wheel called the clock spring this also works the horn circuit.

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee has an air bag light on

The sensor is out and you will have to replace it. It is expensive. Or you just will not have an air bag deploy if you have a front end accident. Personally the light on the dash does not bother me for the 300 dollars it was going to cost to replace all the stuff needed to make air bag in the stering wheel work. Hope that helpes

The air bag light and dinger keeps coming on and dinging while driving.

Most likely the air bag sensor. Not too hard to change, just make sure you disconnect the battery before changing it!

Air Bag Alarm on dash will ding and flash intermitently. Mainly at lower speeds and regardless of someone in seat or not.

I never recommend a novice work on the SRS. It is simply too hazardous to work on. You can easily set an air bag off and cause serious injury or at the very least ruin an air bag. They are not cheap to replace.Take it to a professional for repair.

Horn, cruise control, and radio controls on steering wheel do not work ?

The clockspring behind the steering wheel is possibly defective or unplugged. It is the one and only component that all of your symptoms have in common.

Air bag light keeps coming on my 1999 jeep grand cherokee

Jeeps did have a problem with the clock spring in the steering column. This clock spring is a part that connects the lower harness with the switches on the steering wheel. To replace the clock spring it will have to be done by a qualified tech since the airbag itself has to be removed. Have the car checked for codes first before making any repairs.
