If I turn the wipers on, even just by flipping the "clear screen" wipers, they will not shut off. Every so often they'll turn off once I put the setting back on off on their own but at times I have had to turn off the car. Once I restart the car, they will reset and stop. I am truly perplexed. Anybody have any ideas?

Try swapping the wiper relay with a similar one in the fuse box. If no help, the body computer may have a stuck high relay control output. Check for poor wiring grounds near the body computer and near the wiper motor. Check the wiper motor auto-park switch for looseness.
small plastic cam in colum atached to switch . stick a screwdriver in thier and flip it the oly way it will go. or u could just replace the switch. u might just have a short to. do they keep running with the car off
Wiper arms are generally held on one of two different ways. Either with a nut under a little cap that flips up above the pivot shaft, or a lock tab at the base of the wiper arm that pivots out and away a little from the pivot shaft. With either one, you will have to flip the wiper arms away from the windshield because they will not pull off the pivot shaft until the wiper blade spring tension is no longer acting against the windshield. Here's a pic of the lock tab.
The 13mm nuts that attach the wiper arms to the pivot assembly loosen with time. Pop up the plastic caps and tighten the nuts. Make sure the wipers are in the park position i.e. set the wiper switch in the off position before shutting the ignition off - otherwise you might tighten the wiper arms in the wrong position and they would try to go places they shouldn't :)
