Re: van just died while driving
Follow the sprk plug wires back to find the distributor, the center lead from the distributor goes back to the coil. if you remove that center wire and lay it close to a ground, see if it sparks when u crank the engine. if not its probably bad. keep your fingers clear the sparks will get you and shock you.

any codes with problem ---if no codes check fuel pressure at rail/ spray into throttle body with ether/start fluid if start than fuel issue no start check egr valve for clog and or carbon problem also check fuses and relays
The oil pressure light probably came on when the engine stopped. You would have lost your power accessories then too. Someone will need to figure out if you have lost fuel to the injectors and/or spark to the plugs to know where to look for the problem.
Sounds like a bad ignition module. The module does two functions. It runs the ignition coil and also delivers the signal to the ecm to run the injectors. Sounds like it isn't putting out a tach signal.
To make sure there is enough spark and the electronic side of things is still functional, buy a can of 'starting fluid' (ether) to see if it will try to start. Any auto parts store has this and it is under $3 US; cheap if it helps.
The fresh gas you added is in the tank, stale gas in the lines so it isn't seeing any new juice yet.
Try to get the ether into the intake after the air filter (or just remove it temporarily) otherwise it may not help.
If it won't fire with the ether, it sure won't fire with stale gas.
If you have a spark tester, plug it into a spark plug then place the spark plug wire on the other end. Have someone to turn the engine over while you watch for spark. If you have spark, now you can make another test. Spray some ether into the air intake or throttle body, you might have to take the air intake line going to the throttle body off to gain access to the throttle body, but after spraying the ether into the intake, try to start it...if it attempts to start, your problem is fuel related, you stated that you didn't have much knowledge about cars, so at this point you will need to decide whether you want us to try to talk you through it or, get a qualified mechanic to work on it for you.
do a compression test as oil out the dip stick is usualy cauused by blowby or blocked engine breather. PCV.compression test will also pick up any problem with the head.when you pull the spark plugs out make sure they are the same color.
