Many auto parts stores will scan your vehicle for no charge to indicate what trouble code has been set to cause the light to come on.

If the thermostat is not an OEM part then it is possible that the response of the thermostat is the culprit. The engine control system expects the thermostat to open within a certain run time. If the thermostat is sluggish in opening, the trouble code can be set / light turned on.

Low coolant, gas cap not tight, few other minor things. pay a mechanic 40 bucks to have them scan it in case it's something big.

Is it possible the replacement engine has a water pump that turns the opposite direction from the original ?
The thermostat has to be open to allow flow thru the radiator, have you tried running without a thermostat to check flow ?

My service engine light is coming on and then my oil gauge and thermostat gauge goes crazy. I just had a new thermostat and map senosor put in.

Take the truck to a place like Autozone to have them read the code the engine light is producing. Usually done for free. At this point, we can help narrow it down with the codes. As for the gauges going haywire, TB's have a problem with te stepper motors on the back of the instrument cluster, these little inexpensive motors, may need to be replaced. OR you could have a problem with your ignition switch.

My 2001 chevy blazer stalls periodically when idle. also the temperature gauge shoots up to 260 F very quickly even though th coolant tank is full and when i stop the radiator does not fell warm or hot.

Check the thermostat to make sure the coolant is flowing through the system. If the thermostat is bad, then the truck coolant will heat very quickly. A thermostat may need to be replaced.

2001 Chevy Blazer. Service engine soon light on. Check comp and replaced Temp. sender. Light came back on and it says it's the thermostat temp. sensor. Any idea where this is located?

The temperature sensor is located on the intake manifold by the thermostat housing. Check the wire leads first and if that's good, replace the sensor and thermostat. The 4.3 was programed by the factory to run it's best at 190'", if it runs too cold. The mil light comes on indicating a temperature sensor failure.

1996 chevy blazer engine light is on but the truck run just fine?

Typically there would be a different light that would come on if the oil pressure is too low so that would make me think that they aren't related.  Either way, I would definitely fill the oil level back to the recommended level and take the vehicle to your local auto parts store and have them check the code.  If it is the oil, have them reset the code and just keep and eye on you oil level every week.  If it is not, write down what the code is and get back on here to see what we can do to help you out.  Good luck!

I recently replaced a thermostat in our 200 chevy blazer and it suddenly put on the service engine soon light. What may be the cause?

Check and make sure that there are no vacum lines disconnected if all else fails you can go to any autozone or advance auto parts store and they will scan your car for free! and tell you why it is on.

My truck will not start. i have a new starter, alternator, fuel filter fuel pump, mas, air filter. any other suggestions. its fine once its started. i spay choke spray in it to get started.

I have had similar problems and had to replace the fuel pressure regulator. It's a major expense because it sets below the diaphram in the intake manifold. Ask your mechanic about it, it may be the issue. I would get about 30,000 miles between replacement, I've replace it 3 times since purchasing the 2000 chevy blazer new, first one was under warranty.
