SOURCE: overhead console, display gauge no power

This is a problematic module. It seems as though the soldering done on the module to complete the circuits was performed without taken into consideration that a vehicle on the road rolls over bumps, and gets warm and cold very quickly. All this points to this being your problem. The module itself is VERY expensive. This is not your only recourse. There are companies that repair these modules, for less than $50.00. digitalguy_1@charter.net is the e-mail for David Ruhberg. He will repair the unit, and guarantees his work. To get the module out, there is one screw in the sunglasses compartment, holding the whole overhead console to the roof of the vehicle. Once it's removed, you need to lightly wiggle and pry the console until it comes separated from the friction catches. After that, remove the connector from the module, and remove the module from the console. The vehicle will run fine without the module.

Replacing the front dome light

The front dome lamp & map lamps are replaced from the back, they are 1/4 turn bulb holders.

The overhead console ( non rail ) is held on with spring clips. Open the rear compartment, and in each corner grab the console with your thumb and index finger and pull down. The 1st time you remove it, it is very hard to pull down, the springs are very stiff.

The rail system, the service manual says to pull the overhead bins 1st, then pull the consoles out ( also spring clips )

How do I remove the overhead console in my Ford 1-50 to change a light bulb. I ordered the bulb from the Ford house, but they want a small fortune to replace the bulb

With the overhead console ( non rail system ), open the sun glass bin, and grab each corner in the back, and pull down.

The overhead is held on with 4 or 6 spring clips, and pulls straight down.

The bulbs are 1/4 twist sockets installed from the back of the overhead console.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE FRONT DOME-MAP LIGHT HOUSING

For the non rail system overhead console :

There are spring clips holding the console to the roof.

Open the compartment, and grasp each corner, and pull down. This will take a moderate amount of pull to release the spring clips.

There are 4 or 6 spring clips holding the console to the ceiling, at the least the center spring clips will release when you pull down on the rear.
remove the front held in place by the spring clips. There are 2 connectors for the overhead console, these have ~ 6" if slack in them.

From this point, you can remove the connectors, or you will see the gray bulb holders for the map / interior lamps. These are 1/4 twist bulb holders.

Can't get lens of interior dome light off to replace bulb.

Yes.
Open up the sunglasses holder and there might be a screw holding it in place there. There is also another screw underneath the main body, just unsnap the cover plate to access it.

The entire console slide back away from the windshield about 1/2" once the screws are removed, then drops away.

Use a small screw driver and pry open the garage door opener storage bin. You will see 1 screw there that you will remove.
Pull the front of the overhead console down and remove the console from the console retaining clips.
