Question about 1994 Chevrolet C/K 3500

Will not start

I have a motor home on a 1994 1 ton chassis with a 454 EFI  It has been running great, starting right up when I parked it about two months ago. Now it will not even fire. I grounded a plug off the distributor, no spark at all. I checked all the fuses I could find. I checked what looks like a small coil and it is getting power. I was a Pontiac mechanic in the 70s, put this engine has more stuff on it that I don't know what it is or what it does.  Is there anyway you can help me out with this??

You likely have a bad ECM--try to substitute a known-good one. ONLY IF fuses are good, main relay is fine, the ignition switch checks out okay, and the CEL doesn't come on, the ECM is the only thing left.

Hi there
Check that the battery has a full charge and the starter motor is working, also check the alternator.
Try and give the car a push start as well it could just be fuel not getting to the engine because its been stood a while

Good luck

Replace the HEI ignition module that is located in the distributor.

The guy who sold you the HEI should have told you that you would need the distribtor sensor, also. They are usually changed in pairs.

I have a 1994 Cadillac Concours. When I left the store the motor started shaking, then it quit. Then right before I got home it started shaking again.

If the car is running well, the issue could be a motor mount. A bad motor mount will give you the symptom of vibrating or shaking.

Want to know if I can remove the 454 and downsize to 4.3 liter v6 vortec

You probably could, but his has to be at least a 3/4 ton Suburban to have the 454. It would take a ton of work and fabrication including things like fabricating motor mount, an adapter for the transmission (possibly), and you would have to change the computers as well since you are going from a V8 to a V6. It would take a lot of time and money, but I am sure it can be done.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

The fuel filter should be located under the vehicle, driver side, below seating area, driver side of transmission, mounted on frame rail in fuel line. I hope this helps you and good luck.
