Squeaking serpentine belt

I own a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6. When I start the car up in the morning, the belt squeals for the first 15 minutes or so. And even while driving it during the day, I'll notice it squeal from time to time; usually when I'm in first or second gear or while idling.
I'm assuming the belt is loose. I replaced it when I bought the car a year ago (about 25,000 mi. ago) and was told that they usually last about 100,000 mi. How do I tighten the belt myself?
I've also been told that the belt tensioner could be bad...

Go to autozone.com and search their free online repair manuals for your car. It will show you how to tighten the serpentine belt. It is more than likely just the tensioner wasn't pulled tight enough when the new belt was put on. I hope this is helpful. Also could be a bad tensioner. Good luck.

Try dressing the belt with the belt dressing spray /it's supose to stop that sort of prob and get a few more miles out of the belt to :)

Need serpentine belt diagram

There could be 4, 5, or 6 pulleys on the 190E 2.6. Here they are.

Major friction/squeeking from serpentine belt!!!!

Keith,it sounds like you may need to clean the grooved surfaces on your pulleys, you could remove the belt and use some aerosol brake cleaner and a stiff brush to remove any build-up on the pulleys.you could also try spraying the same on the pulleys while the car is running, just be sure and wear eye protection and don't get to close to any moving parts.
