Question about 2000 Buick Regal

2 Answers

Have 2000 Buick Regal LS, problem is it wont start now, sounds like its out of gas. Another problem occurred recently, it started, drove a short distance, then it quit. Question: Does this vehicle have a fuel relay switch. If so, where is it located?

I have a 2000 Buick Regal GS with the Supercharged Engine. The car dies all the time... it runs like a rabbit for about one or two blocks and then it dies. Last "fix" was a new ignition and when that was fixed the odometer light went out and now the mechanic can't fix that. Does this car have electrical problems? It only has 63,000 miles on it. Do I get rid of this car? I spent $900 on the car for it to run 42 days. I can't keep doing that. Why is it stalling?

If you have the 3800 Series II engine, there is no fuel relay switch that I know of, a fuel pump relay, yet, but no switch that I am aware of that would keep the car from starting unless the pump is not working.

That said, have you checked anything? Does it have spark on the #1 plug? Does it turn over? Can you hear the fuel pump prime before you try and start the engine?

Eleanor D, your problem sounds like airflow sensor.

The problem is the fuel pump resistor. The connector is located behind the passenger headlight. It is a white plastic plug about 2-3 inches long. Unplug the connector and jump it out. The car will start and run until you can replace the resistor.

THERE IS A SMALL FILTERING SOCK ON THE PICK UP TUBE ON THE FUEL PUMP IN SIDE THE FUEL TANK ATTACHED TO THE FUEL PUMP. IF YOU TEND TO LET YOUR TANK RUN TO EMPTY ALL THE TIME THE FILTERING SOCK WILL PLUG UP AND STARVE THE ENGINE OF FUEL. IF YOU WAIT A WHEIL AND START IT AGAIN IT WILL PROBABLY RUN ONLY MOMENTARILY UNTIL THE FILTERING SOCK PLUGS AND CUT THE FUEL SUPPLY. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE FUEL TANK TO REMOVE THE SOCK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. YOU CAN HAVE A GARAGE SO THIS FOR PROBABLY AROUND $300.00, OR TRY IT YOURSELF.

Got 2000 buick regal wont start turns over trys to start but doesnt

Could be multiple issues.
#1 Is there gas in the tank? #2 is it bad gas ? (car sitting awhile) may need to put HEET in it and put in some good gas. You may have water in your fuel line. #3 is your fuel pump working? Your fuel pump relay may be bad. Hard to answer online.
Sounds like your battery is good and you are getting spark? I'd ask a local mechanic to take a look & trouble shoot.

Why wont my 99 Buick regal ls stay running it starts then immediately stalls out

Is your SECURITY light flashing? If so, you have a V.A.T.S. problem. VATS stands for Vehicle Anti Theft System. Try getting a new ignition key made because the resistance value has probably changed in the one you have. If that doesn't do it you'll need to get a VATS bypass.

I have a 2000 buick Regal LS. My battery died, I gave it a jump. The Car cranks , but wont stay on unless the gas pedal is press down. If you let the gas pedal go , the car shuts off. what is the solution...

Check out the TPS on the throttle body. It has three wires to it, The black is the ground and the other two are for high and low resistor readings. If an open occurs the car will die out and very well start again. The tps should have a 1.5 volt setting to operate correctly when new

2000 Buick Regal LS 3.6 - Flashing Dashboard Lights/Wont start

Most likely it is the ignition switch (the key ignition switch) in the steering column ($100 at a dealer).

It may be a loose negative battery ground cable, too.
Check the negative battery cable where it conencts to the engine ground. It may be loose, corroded, damaged, or otherwise not making a good ground contact.

Add a grounding strap ($11 - AutoZone) from the engine to the chassis. That may help, but it's most likely the ignition switch.

I have a 1999 Buick Regal ls car run out of gas

A couple of possibilities. 1st, check to see that the fuel pump is working. When you turn the key to on position (not all the way to crank the engine over), can you hear the pump? You should hear a humming sound from the gas tank . The fuel in the tank actually keeps the fuel pump from overheating. It is possible the pump is shot. It would be a good idea to change the fuel filter, as it may be plugged up from sediment from the bottom of the tank.
