Clock not available

2008 Durango - clock was always displayed until a couple of days ago. When you push the time button it reads "clock not available"

It used to do this occasionally, then it would work again -- now its been that way for days. (Answer this, too: Why would they even have the programming in the radio to say that?)

  • ken0297 Feb 12, 2009

My Radio clock says the same thing, usually when it's cold out (or so it seems).

    I have a 2008 Dodge Durango with MP3 CD player AM/FM stereo.

I took the truck back for warranty work and this was the dealer's explanation: This is a known, but rare, glitch in the radio. It is not widespread enough for Dodge to issue a bulletin, but there is a write-up in the computer system that Dodge technicians access that covers this. The "repair" is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and/or remove the IOD (Ignition Off Draw fuse(s)). The radio then "resets" itself. If the problem persists, they have to replace a component of the radio system.

Apparently, this problem is more common than Dodge/Mitsubishi is willing to admit. I have had the same persistent problem with my 2008 Mitsubishi Raider. I tried disconnecting for 5 minutes and the clock still did not come back. I am going to try to leave it disconnected a little longer to see if the clock will come back from its "vacation". There is no way that Mitsubishi could not kinow about this problem since the radio is obviously programmed to display that error. Mitsubishi/Dodge is not being honest with its customers.

I have got charged for the radio repair 3 times to reset the radio's clock.. Now they want to charge me $895 to replace the radio. So there is no recall and the customer has to pay for the defect.

How do I change the time on the radio in my '08 pontiac g6

To set the hour, press the CLOCK button. The clock symbol displays and the hour flashes. Turn the ADJ (adjust) knob to increase or to decrease the hours. To set the minutes, press the CLOCK button again. The minutes flash. Turn the ADJ knob to increase or to decrease the minutes. The time can be set with the ignition on or off.
To synchronize the time with an FM station broadcasting Radio Data System (RDS) information, press and hold the clock button to enter the clock set mode, then press and hold the clock button for three seconds until UPDATED displays. If the time is not available from the station, NO UPDATE displays.
RDS time is broadcast once a minute. After tuning to an RDS broadcast station, it can take a few minutes for the time to update.
