Question about 1988 Honda Accord 4 Door

1 Answer

1988 Honda Accord back door locks broken

I need to see how I can replace the back door locks so the doors are usable. The part that you pull up or push down to lock or unlock the door broke off completley and the remaining part receided into the door. Im thinking that I might try and take the panel off and was wondering if the latches are just bolted into the door or I have to replace the whole door?

You should just be able to take the door panel off. A part like that may be hard to find tho... may have to go to a salvage yard and pull it. Those 'odd' parts like that can be a PIA to find!!

I have an 89 Honda Civic and have had to get dorky parts like that at a junk yard before! Also a great place to find rims!! (those 4 lug ones can be hard to find and MEGA expensive if you go to dealer)

I am assuming you own the car. It is a very involved process and you need to get parts from a dealer, or a junkyard. BUT, if you get parts from junkyard chances on keys not so good. Either way yuo will need to disassemble the entire door interior, and remember how everything goes together so your window will work afterwards.

Interior door handle replacement 1992 honda accord

Do u mean the door latch, which u pull to open the door, or the plastic molded handle u grab to shut the door? If it's the latch, there are two small round plugs in the plastic area of the door lock and locking switch. Use a small flat end screwdriver to pry them out , exposing two philips head screws. If this isn't what u needed, let me know, I'll get more info for u. countrycurt0

Do you mean the automatic door lock won't lock or unlock? If so, you need an actuator replacement.
