Ferrari 360 modena f1 speed restriction, safe mode

This problem concerns a 2003 360 modena with an f1 style gearbox. The problem occurs as soon as the brake pedal is depressed the engine controls put the car into a safe mode and engine revolutions are limited. The car does not have any malfunction indicator lamps lit and seems to be running fine otherwise. If the brake light switch is disconnected you can rev to redline. Any help would be appreciated.

This great car does not have speed limiter, as you said the limiter is starting because the ECU detects a problem and put the car in limp mode, starting the Rev limiter.

The only way to know the problem is by connecting the car ECU to a code reader, and interpreting codes.

If the car goes in limp mode when you press the brake pedal can be a brakes related problem or even a contact on the brake light wirings, check if the lights are are working.

Ask your mechanic to scan the ECU, this will tell you what the problem is.

Hello and welcome to Fixya!
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive batter connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation.

Please do keep me posted on the progress. I'll be glad to help you out. Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya! Have a good one!

Pretty much any shop can change the oil. The only possible problem is obtaining a new oil filter. Take one with you from a reputable parts store and that will not be a problem.

Being a V8 you obviously have one cat converter to serve per cylinder bank, you also have one 02 sensor and one pyrometer per cat converter, that slow down signal could have several meanings, either you have a faulty pyrometer or 02 sensor, a damaged cat conveter or even a fouled spark plug, best thing to do is have it put on a scanner and see what fault code comes up.

Hi I have a 2002 360 modena ferrari does the cooling system take a special antifreeze or can i just use regular coolant

The label on the expansion calls for Glyco Shell coolant.
I have a stable of european vehicles each one asks for their own antifreeze type. I fill everyone of them with regular coolant. Buy extended life coolant labeled as compatible with all types, which is readily available.

Miles per gallon

About 11 MPG. I had to convert KM to Miles. Of course this is for "highway" driving without a lot of stops and starts. I didn't find any information on city driving, but I would guess that it would be around 8 MPG.
