A P0106 code means the computer has detected a reading from the MAP that is outside the acceptable range.
Problems that can cause the MAP sensor signal to be outside the specified range:
- Leaking EGR valve
- Vacuum leaks
- Dirty fuel injectors
- Wrong fuel pressure
- Low engine compression
- Ignition miss
- Carbon deposits on the intake valves
- Valve problems

Go to any mechanic with a code reader. They will plug it in and find the code that will have been set in the cars computer. This code can be looked up by the mechanic to find out wat the problem is. You need to do it NOW!

SOURCE: hold light on console

The hold light is probably for a fault in the HILL HOLDER SYSTEM

This system holds the Forester on a hill without using the brake pedal, as long as you keep the clutch depressed. It's very useful when towing.

I will check my workshop manual as soon as I have some free time and try to get a definitive answer for you.

Regards,
Andy, Derbyshire UK

SOURCE: 2004 subaru forester, 99,000 miles. Check engine

Drop in to an Autozone, or Pep Boys, or similar big parts store & they will usually scan for codes free. This will hopefully eliminate all the guess work, or at least point everyone in right direction for better diagnosis. If not obvious from codes what the problem is, get back to us and we'll help you out.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the great suggestion . I'll have Autozone read the codes on Monday. Thanks again!"

I have a 2010 subaru forester that i cannot refuel when check engine light is on

Although I have never encountered this issue on my own 2010 Forester, I would say that this may be a fuel system problem with a sensor or component. The place to resolve this is at a Subaru service department.
