Treed55508,

Try this solution. I have had the same issue three times. A Chevy tech told me that if it keeps doing it, to replace the blower motor, as it seems to be a chronic problem with the blower having to much resistance and thus burning out the resistors. I suspect that you probably had lost one speed first and then more. It has happened both ways with me, once the entire thing went out at once and then the other times it goes one speed at a time.

So after you removed the blower motor and put it back in it started working ? if this is correct replace the blower motor or wait till it quits again and when it wont work goto the motor and tap on it if it starts the motor is bad.

Why doesn't ac blower work on number 5 setting? it is a chevy hd gas engine

Most likely the blower motor resistor. It's mounted next to the blower motor under the dash. Also check the 7 wire plug going to it, GM had a problem with that plug, and the wiring getting hot and melting. The plug is $68.00 from the dealership. One of my customer's car had the same problem.

The fuse for heater/ac fan is number 36.30 amp located end of dash

The bower motor is most likely what you are smelling.Replace the blower motor, and the blower resister next to the blower motor if,the blower motor has no speeds.

2003 chevy silverado air does not blow through vents. Condenser works. Pipes are cold. Fan works. Modular (next to fan) repalced to get fan to work. Heater air conditioner controls under radio replaced....

The air vents are control by vacuum line and or linkage.

Listen for hiss or feel for vacuum leak under the dash,

Feel for broken linkage(s) that are close to the vents.

WORK BACKWARD if you have small hands to feel out where is the missing link.

Blower fan only works on high

If it is working at all then the relay and fuse is good and the problem is either the little vacuum hose on the back of the control switch panel or the panel itself.

The next time it acts up try turning the key back just a little and see if everything comes online if it does you will need to replace the igniton switch not the key lock the electric switch that will be located in or on the sterring colum.
