Studs broke on 97 ford escort

I broke all 4 studs on my 97 ford escort and now i have the parts to fix but i cant get to the studs. I am pretty sure that i need to loosen the center nut so i can take off the disc. is there another way of dealing with this problem before i send this car off a cliff?

I dont think you have to remove the nut that just frees the cv axle. The rotor is probably rusted on give it a few good hits with a hammer on the front where studs are do not hit brake surface it should free up

Ford focus 2001 my front wheel studs has two broken studs, what or how i do it to replace them ? how can i take them out? thanks


Make sure you fix them . This could make other break easyly and come off, To fix the easyest wat you need a ez-out and a reversable drill, Go slow and it will come rt. out. Have to remove the axle to get to it. If on front. if on back can do easyer. A tire shop might charge you $10 to replace if you go get the studs. Good luck.

I have a 97 mercury tracer two of my lug studs broke i can get them out but cant figure out how to get the new ones in any suggestions


put the lug studs in the freezer over night and if possible heat the rotar disk with a torche go to a local automotive place they make a hand held press to pull the studs in.

A cylinder head removal tool is provided for removing the cylinder head from the engine block of an engine.The tool comprises an elongated bar made of tool steel with means for bolting the bar to the cylinder head and for mounting pusher bolts which can be tightened down onto exposed threaded ends of frozen studs holding the cylinder head. As the bolts are tightened down onto the studs the cylinder head is gradually lifted upward free from the studs.

If you broke 3 studs when you hit the curb then you can be sure that at the very least you have bent the rim, which will have to be replaced. At the worst you have bent an axle which will have to be replaced. You may have bent the rear end housing as well. This needs to go to a repair shop and be checked over to determine the extent of the problems. Don't put this off, it's very troubling that the studs broke again. Hope this helps.

Most studs are pressed in. Big hammer and punch and knock it out. If it doesn't move, get a bigger hammer.

Rotors won't come off


get a really big hammer! and some wd40. Sometimes you just need to pound the **** out of them to get them off. Sometimes they break into bits. Wear safety glasses and gloves I have had bits of rotor fly off and slice me open before. Hit in between studs dont hit studs, dont hit caliper mount on knuckle either. It bends easy! At this point I hope you know if they come off you cant reuse them. They will get deformed and crack even if you cant see it.

Wheel studs


normally you can take off the spindel but if you remove brake disk and back plate you should be able to punch out the studs with no problem and than push new one in and press it in by tapping it with hammer on the back and than putting some washers over it and than tightening the lug nuts.
Or if you are comfortable with it remove the whole spindel section and put it on a work bench
