Haha mine did the same thing i replaced the gas filter and had the tank cleaned but i found the problem and now my car runs like it came of the assimbly line take of the hole air breather from of the carberator or fuel injector there will be 2 little cones on top of those are 2 electric conecters if they are old its most likely there broken theyl be nasty and brown they controle the gas to the injectors clip the white and green wire and replace them there 12.98 a peace then rewire them make sure to pay attention on the way you took them of because the new conector will have red and blue wire instead of white and green there may allso be some trash in the injectors so put a little bottle lucas fuel treatment its about 15.00 for a small botlle but its worth it and that will clean them out hope this helps

Check your fuel pressure. Sometimes your fuel pump will give to much or to little fuel to the engine. Changing fuel pressure regulator will solve the problem. What is your RPM needle doing is it pulsating or going up or down...Please let me know so we can solve the problem.

It sounds like your brake powerbooster is going out. If it has a vacuum leak or a seal that is bad it will loose the boost part of the brakes and basically comes to manual braking. It sounds as if the seal behind the diaphram, the side closest to the driver is bad allowing the vacuum from the engine to basically put the brakes on. Good luck and let me know.

It's not a fuse because when they go bad that circuit is dead and won't work at all...not intermittently. It may be the beginning of a failing starter. The starter heats up and won't restart until it cools down. Also the fuel pump can act up in the same way.

Take it to Autozone or a place that will do a free OBDII scan. Get the code # that pulls up, and we can help from there.

2004 Grand Am acts like it's out of gas when it's not.

It almost sounds like you are losing spark at times, and not fuel. i guess the cheapest place to start is to change plugs and wires. Pay close attention to the gap on the plugs. Another thing could be the idle air control valve, or water in your fuel.

I have a problem with my tranny slipping, and also acting like there is no tranny at all. But, sometimes it works... go figure... Do I have to buy a new tranny? Help the truck was sitting for a year...

OK---here is the take---your transmission valve bodies are in need of service. The slippage can also be caused by a faulty torque converter.

You can replace the torque converter for 150 to 300 dollars with a decent one from a salvage yard. I would definitely do this.In addition, if you want the transmission to shift and work properly, (this is a short term solution to a rebuild); siphon 1 quart of transmission fluid out, and replace it with 1 quart of brake fluid. Run for 25 - 50 miles. This will swell the transmission seals, and tighten the valve bodies to function properly. The fix could last up to a year! It will save you money and aggravation, and let you drive the vehicle for a long period of time without comitting money to it!

Sometimes (not all the time and only recently) upon acceleration (from dead stop and/or from any speed but give enuf gas for it to kick down into overdrive), car jerks and acts like it doesn't want to go...

There is some loose conduct in the connection from the engine delta coil side which is connected to spark plug.Tat part is having some loose connection which makes the car to **** and stop when you accelerate.
