2003 4.0L. Same issues"check engine", plus: constantly reflects #3 misses (same code)-replaced coil pack,PCM & reprogramed,#3 wire bypassed to injector-checked crank and cam position sensor outputs, connections all locations(continuity). Continues after reset, after 50 or so miles.Check engine lite steady once problem starts, will blink when running real poorly.Seems to accur while in O.D on slight grade (bridge, 2-3 degree incline) at higher speeds/lower RPM with a power demand. Will temporarily clear on occasion after key is turned off and engine restarted. Same code.

Engine surges at about 4000 rpms. vechile wont go past 40mph on steep hill

Start by checking your fuel pressure. You should ave 5-10 lbs of pressure. If you don't have that amount of pressure you should check your fuel filter. If you check your filter and it is clear and you have the right amount of fuel pressure then you may have an injector problem that is best solved by replacing all of the injectors. If non of this helps please give more information on how the engine runs at idle (smooth, rough, spit, spudder) and such as that as you may have an ignition problem.

Rough idling

When my Grand Cherokee was having similar rough idling problems, I replaced all the plugs and replaced all the ignition and spark plug wires. I also put in half bottle of fuel injector cleaner in gas tank (full, as recommended). I had both immediate improvement in power, smoother idling and my gas mileage went up 2mpg (approx).

Getting code po205 and po305 on 2003 grand jeep cherokee

Code 205 is for a problem with the injector on cylinder 5 and code 305 is for a miss or loss of power on the same cylinder.
I would check that injector next.

did you check the coil it may be bad. for # 1 cylinder. if you can, just replace them all. then you will know everything is ok! but change #1 coil first to find out. try putting some injector cleaner in the tank, or swapping the injector from the #1 cylinder to the #2 and see if the code follows it and let us know.

Very rough idle on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition V8

If you haven't changed the plugs or had the fuel system cleaned, now would be a good time to do it. The number 1 culprit for rough idles is dirty injectors or plugs. You can try an injector cleaner in a can (or bottle) for under $10 and see if it helps, and then work from there. If there isn't any improvement then if you are able to, check the plugs for any gunky buildup and if you find a bad plug, make sure you replace them all (or have them replaced) at the same time.

My 93 jeep grand cherokee runs rough while in idle

Injector cleaner that goes in the tank is ****. I would take the injectors off and have them cleaned by a profesional for about $30-$40. Or you can do it yourself but it is a task.
