Question about 1997 Toyota Celica

I just bought a 1997 toyota celica but it won't start

It has fuel, and a new battery, the mechanic who initially looked at it said he could not hear the fuel pump priming when he turn the ignition on. any solutions??? i'm deperate because it was bought in an auction

    mine is just on a 1988 toyota celica gt coupe and my fuel pump will not kick on or prime ill keep you posted im tearing my hole car apart to figure this out

Sorry my friend, could be fuel pump, or a hundred other things. have the mechanic check the fuel pressure.

Just a simple thing could be the batteries in your key transponders, check ALL your fuses. other than that it then needs to be inspected for fuel and sensor diagnosis at a mechanics shop. hope this helps you out.

check fuel pump fuse and relay also the fuel injection fuse and ecu fuse, if they are ok remove the back seat and you will see a cover remove the cover and check for voltage at the pump plug and ground, you hear the pump work if not need new pump

since you have spark, your fuel filter may be clogged or your fuel pump needs replacing.remember always to look for the simplest solution first.

Sounds like the connection from the battery to the chassis ground is bad. Try replacing the Negative battery wire and make sure where it attaches to the frame is as rust free as possible

Replace the Fuel Pump. I had the same problem and i did everything you did to find out that it was the fuel pump. I removed the tank and repaced the fuel pump and bingo! No more problems the car runs like new

Celica fuel doors problem !!!


first you will have to take a small punch and knock out the center and then drill the rivet out.and then you will have to put new rivents to hold the door back on. You will have to have a rivet gun and 2 rivits to fit the hole

it might be your fuel injectors. The fuel injectors have been recalled. My 2000 gts was hesitating and i had the injectors cleaned and that fixed the problem. A month later i took it in for service and was advised that there was a recall on the fuel injectors.
