just for fyi incase you can use the information it is located on top of the injection intake and they call it a IAC (idle air control) atleast thats what i found from my reseach on looking for the cold start valve thanks again change it havent found out if it works yet but think it was bad because they say the pin couldnt stick out farther than an inch in a eigth and mine was there so thank you again

You need to check a service manual on this but it sounds a bunch like a cold-start valve isn't closing once the engine is warm and this would cause an overly rich fuel-air mix that would gag a warm engine. I don't know if your car is equipped with  one or not.

I'm afraid not; I'm familiar with a number of cars but your Olds isn't one of them.
Generally, it is located in the intake system but I would highly recommend you buy a Haynes (slightly better than Chilton) service manual for your car since it will serve you well in such circumstances.

Any auto parts store will have or can order them and the price may be a little lower than Haynes on-line store here:

You should be able to find a description of the fuel system, in detail,  under the Fuel section in the index.

Hi I have a 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme, with a 3.1 liter engine. My problem is when the car warms at stops it runs rough. Sometimes shuts off. Sometimes when crusing at speeds 30-50 the car sort of jerks...

My 3.4 liter 91 Cutlass Supreme has similar problem when warm the engine misses (car jerks). But its fine at idle and without any accelerator pressure. The SERVICE ENGINE light also comes on intermittantly. I am going to test the ignition coils.

Check engine light is on and now the truck is spitting and sput

i would take it back. they should cover it. sounds like mass air flow sensor. if it was barelly detailed it water might of seeped into the intake thus sucking small amount of water which then causes sputtering and a little lack of power.

95 Summit 1.5L Mitsubishi engine miss /lack of power

Somewhere along the the line you may have a fuel blockage or a good dose of water in your fuel tank.Check the water in tank 1st.Add 1 litre of metholated spirits to every 20 litres of fuel. This will allow the water to break down and be burnt through the motor over time.Do this twice. If this does not work, there may be a glob of **** in the fuel tank that blocks the pickup. If this is the problem, the tank needs to be taken out and cleaned.I hope this is a start to get you back on the road.
