If I pump the brakes about 3 times before leaving the driveway, it doesn't happen, but if not, then because was have slight decline in the driveway, the brakes lock up and squeal at the end of the driveway.

When the engine crank but won't start
Retrieve PCM faulty code if any.
Engine need 3 things (Fuel, Air, Fire (spark)
1- Fuel = fuel pump working during the problem you can hear a sound at the fuel tank cap (remove)
All Fuel Injectors working.(Power and the spray).
2- Air = MAF defect (Mass Air Flow) no code will be set
When the engine is running with a screwdriver lightly hit the MAF the engine will stall if it's the problem.

3- Fire= Is there spark at all spark plugs wire?
Find out the ground of power windows it could be the same as fuel pump or ignition system (Ground corrosion, high resistor)

If the ABS system were the problem, the ABS warning light should come on. So I would say the problem is with the vac booster. The booster is between the pedal and the master cylinder. It uses vac to boost the pressure applied to the master cylinder by your foot. You may have to leave the vehicle with a mechanic to drive until the problem occurs.
Multi-function switch,(Wipers turn signals cruise) , this may sound crazy, but if you can get to the screws & remove it, smack the unit on a table top 2-3 times & re-try. Let me know what happens. This DOES work on all Ford U-Haul trucks!
The 1st thing you need to do is check the brake lights, if they are not wiorking the park lock solenoid doesn't get power and the park lock remains engaged.
The first thing you want to check for is the brake signal,without this signal it will not crank,this is the easy one make sure you get brake light,the second is to have the starter tested by a direct method,this gives the indication of the health of the starter
2008 Escape has a terrible reputation for ABS light and traction control light being. All due to broken ABS tone ring cracked and out of position flopping on frt bearing. Go to local AutoZone store and they
will scan this to find which wheel has the broken tone ring. The replacement ring is cheap in the $7 range. It is labor that will sicken you as this ring must be pressed on after the front half shaft is removed. Not a driveway job if you are considering DYI.
At first blush, it sounds like the distributor cap isn't seated. Since it's happening when the engine is cold and at night, I'm guessing condensation is causing the problem. Try spraying starter fluid on the cap the next time the car doesn't start. This will dispel any condensation. If the car starts, that would be a good place to start.
