If you mean P2098 read on, Po 2098 is not a vaild code, all codes for OBD2 have one letter (P, B, etc.) and four numbers 0-9.
P2098 VOLKSWAGEN - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 2
Possible causes- Low fuel pressure
- Engine misfire
- Large vacuum leak
- Blocked converter
- Faulty O2 sensor bank 2

SOURCE: vw passat 1.8t battery problem?

Hi

Either your battery has just given up the ghost,........ Is it the original, and now 10 yrs old ?
Or your Alternator is not charging enough, to replenish what is used.

Have battery tested first, if OK, then the alternator belt tension, and alternator for correct output charging rate.

If all these shows no faults, your starter is then suspect.

Good Luck !

A FixYa would be nice thanks !....John.

Trouble code p000a on 06 vw passat. can i drive with this code or will it cause more damage to the car

Cam shaft positioner malfunction. You can drive it. Just have bad gas mileage. Probably run rough to. If it starts making a bunch of chattering noise, time to have it fixed. I wouldn't take it on any long trips either.

How do i turn off check engen light for a 06 vw passat

Any automotive parts store has a free diagnostic check (Scan Tool) They will scan the car for codes and reset your light. If there is a "hard" code, the light will turn on again after 3 failed attempts of that circuit. They will tell you what component is causing the problem.

How do u turn off check engen light for 06 vw passatundefined

Disconnect the battery for a minute. You need to fix the problem or it will come back You can also use a tool and software called Vag-Com or any other code analyzer to reset it.

Check engine light in my '07 VW passat 2.0t is on. Got codes P2015 (twice) and P2008 (twice) and EVAP system code P0456. What are these codes? Thx Phyllis

P2015 - Intake manifold runner position
P2008 - Intake manifold runner control circuit
P0456 - Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected

None of these are urgent, just annoying. And common problems with Audi's and VW. P2015 and P2008 were likely due to a software/sensor glitch, and did not necessarily require a replacement throttle flap motor. P0456 could be due to loose gas cap, but also was likely caused by carbon contamination from the evap cannister. I have all 3 codes on my 06 passat, and just live with them. I would estimate around 1000k conservatively to track down and fix from dealership.

How much would it cost to get my brakes fixed on a 2006 vw passat? also, what about replacing the grill?

an 06 passat has special rear calipers that have to be taken in by a scan tool if you try to turn them in you will damage parking brake motor the brakes also need reset after installation by scan tool or there will be codes in parking brake circuit but the fronts are normal except for sensors on the inboard pads but i beleive at the dealer its around 800 for rotors and pads all the way round the grille im not sure of maybe 150-200 total

VW P421 code

This is a common problem with V6 Passats. VW put out a TSB on this a few years ago.
The code is telling you that your catalytic converter (driver's side, I think) is bad. It's more than likely not bad.

VW put out a TSB on this a few years ago. TSB 05-13. The cause of the error code is basically an over sensitive ECU (computer of car/engine) and the fix is to have your ECU flashed with the latest and greatest software. Depending on your mileage they might do it under warranty - you'll have to check.

It's still possible that it might be a bad catalytic converter - and the dealership might try to tell you that either way. Call VW (1-800-822-8987) and ask them about the TSB (I couldn't find it online).

Tell the dealership you want the ECU flashed - it's much much cheaper than a cat. No sense replacing it if it's not bad
There is a federal warranty on catalytic converters - 8 yrs or 80k miles...

Hope this helps!
