Question about 2003 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Ford focus hatchback 2004 turbo diesl

I had a new cluch put in last year, and i have always thought the cluch wasnt put in well, when i got the car back, i could feel a knocking coming up through the cluch peddel, this has been going on for a year now, and last week the car wouldnt start well and when it did, the whole car sounded like a tractor, and shook the whole car, the cluch peddel fell to the floor, and sprang back up,
i now have a man looking at it and he has said its somthing to do with the cluch, but also the workings behind the cluch, im a woman that doesnt understand this, and hes says he needs a thousand pounds for the parts, is he ripping me off, or does this working cost that much !!!,
many thanks Anita

1000 pounds sounds a bit rich, just4 parts. sounds like you needto shop around,if you get someone to fix it look at the clutch plate or pressure plate you might be able to re use them, to save money . you should get about 135 kms out of of a clutch

Sounds like you need a new clutch. At a stand still put the car in third and try to get it to move. If you don't stall out you need a new clutch.

2002 focus headlight bulbs will not last more than 2months and than one of the high beams always goes out. My 97 ford truck bulbs last for years with no problems.

Well only advice I can give is make sure you don't touch the bulbs with your bare hands and make sure that the head lamps are sealed so no water can get in.I always wipe the new bulbs down with a clean paper towl.

Windscreen washers

Fords have a common problem with their washer pumps. for the last 12 years ford have fitted a plastic mesh over the inlet to the washer pump, this blocks up with the build up of crystalized washer fluid. fords official protocol says to use a small sharp object the size of a pencil to peirce the mesh and allow the flow of water. Also most washer bottles can be accessed via the front wheel arch. simple undo the fixings and pull the innier plastic wheelarch out the way and pull the pump out of the bottle. they are never fixed in just wedged in.

I have a 2004 ford 6.0 diesel .its had major work done to it every year since i bought it new .it is defitaly a lemon.lately it had a oil leak at the turbo hose on passenger side down by radiater. a large...

Most Ford 6.0l engines are junk, they were poorly designed from the beginning. I would stop going to that dealer and find one that knows powerstrokes. Most dealers like to just change out parts until they find the problem (especially with diesels).
I have seen the dealers change HPOP pumps, injectors and harnesses and cylinder heads to try and solve the problem you are having. The last one I saw the dealer screw up, they did all the above mentioned, charged $6500 and it still didn't work. They then said it needed a new engine and it would be $14,000.
Cut your losses and dump the truck. If you can afford it, sell that truck and buy an 02-03 with the 7.3 diesel. That is one of the best trucks ford ever made.

Loud rattling-screeching sound thought was belt but belt looks fine- not constant- worse when idling or just turning on. 2004 zx3 hatchback.

One of the pulleys is not turning. Could be AC, alternator, or one of the idler pulleys.Take a careful look with a good light. My bet is the idler pulley.
