Hi i have a Hyundai Sonata 2000 automatic. while driving the stopped and wont start. so had the fuel pump changed but same problem. then had the coils changed but yet wont start. then had the entire timing belt changed with timing sensors, balancer and the lot....now the starts but only for a few seconds shakes alot and then dies out. changed the spark plugs, plug wires, fuel pump filter and the sensor near the coil that has 3 wires coming through it...but the car still has same problem and dies out in few seconds. i have changed alot everything but the problem remains. i have spent my entire x-mas break on this car and now im supposed to get be to work with no car. my car has been sick for about a month now... Could someone please please help me out as to what could be the problem.

Re: Car misses and cuts out!!!
It sounds like you have done everything Unfortunately it is hard to diagnose because al of the above is what I would have done
I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra and had a similar problem and I took the car to Cotterman transmission (because it would hardly go engine rattled and lurched and stalled) they put an electronic diagnostic and said I had a mis fire on cylinder 2 and 4
I bought the best spark plug wire and boot kit and 4 plugs and replaced and it runs like a top!
It almost sounds like you have bad gas I would remove the air cleaner and spray starting fluid into the carb while car is running ad see f it smooths out this will tell you if it is gas

CarGurusMar 5, 2013 - My Hyundai Sonata won't start, everything comes on when the key is turned but no ... it is in park and until I jiggle the shift until the light does come on it will not start. Was in ... My 2009 Sonata has been "perfect" with no issues.
I have a 2001 Sonata. Mine did the same thing but a little different. I bet you anything its a senser. Get it read at an autoparts store. I had two sensors go out and throw the car off whack with the "check engine" light on.
hi is there fuel getting to engine?any vapour coming out exhaust?sometimes glow plugs not working can cause this.try a squirt of easy start into air filter.NOT MUCH!!READ INSTRUCTIONS.HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.then start car for about 10secs.get this from car accessorie shops.if it fires on this its highly likely glowplugs not working or fuel pumptiming out.its hard to say without seeing the car
Hi there. I can solve this dangerous problem you are having. You would loose acceleration at lights and intersections, the engine will shake and revs can go crazy. The issue is the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. It was recalled in 2001 as a safety problem as people died driving this model of sonata. If you connect your comp up to a diagnostic machine you will find its the MAF the problem is a problem that is hard to ctah on a diagnostic machine though as it comes and goes. You will need to replace the MAF ASAP as you can die from this fault and hyundai will not care due to the age of this car.
you know. i took it to a mechanic and actually.... The timing belt cut the Crank Shaft Censor... So it was the crank shaft censor again. The wires were routed wrong from the first mechanic that "fixed" the car.
