Instrament cluster not working on my 1996 ponyiac Grand Am

I just changed the fuel pump on this car. Now it will run but my Odometor, speedometor, fuel guage, temp guage does not work. I do npt find any fuse that has blown. I have checked the relays and cannot find where the problem lies. This car sat for four years and it would not start until I replaced the fuel pump assembly. It has 70,000 mi's and we purchased it as a program car in 1997 with 10.000 mi's on it. I need some help...... Please, I am trying to get road worthy to give it to my 19 yr old grandson tom start collage at the end of January.

Thanks in advance for any help given,

Thanks bowndown,Yes I have tested all the fuse inside the car and under the hood with my test light and then I took each one and tested them with my volt-ohm meter. I did not find any blown. My guagees were working before I parked it. When I tried starting it it was not getting fuel at the engine so I changed the fuel pump assembly and now it runs but the speedodometor and the RPM guage are at O along with the heat amd fuel guage. Ibelieve it might be a sensor or the electronic control sytem. I do not know how to tell which one it would be or know where to locate them.

Much help is needed and appreciated to get this car running right for my grandson to use to start his first year at the univeristy of LSU.

Thanks for any and all help

Same problem. Same car. Except my cluster just stopped working without anything happening. It has been like this since 2003. Fuses are good. Visible wiring looks good, too.

When checking fuses did you check both sides of fuse with test light or a meter?sometimes fuse may test good on one side but not the other.you may also want to check fuses under the hood as well.

Fuel gauge does not work on a 2006 f-250 5.4

it could be the fuel levle indicator card located at the pump its a resistance card that runs by a flote as it goes by the differnt resistances it indicates on the gage the fuel levle the card can get dirty by exsesive use bad fuel or it can have a break in the card circut the wiring may have a break or corosion befor it gets to the instrament cluster on the newer fords the instrement cluster is a modual but if they changed it three times its likely its not the cluster thats bad

Speedometor was bouching up and down now it has quit all together but the odometor still works

The spedo starts to bounce when the cable from the tranny doesn't operate easily. Sond like now either the cable has broken and needs to be replaced, or the plastic gear in the side of the tranny has given up, in which case the gear needs to be replaced, and the cable lubricated.

Fuel gauge fluxuates and speedometor does not

sounds like you have a cluster problem, you checked the cluster fuse in the fuse panel? If fuses are ok it may be a more serious problem right inside the instrument cluster

Check first if the they can do something about the sensor without replacing it but if they need to replace it do so and I can assure you it will work.

1996 Grand Am dash cluster DEAD.. tach, odometor, fuel gau

I had a similar problem with mine. I had to replace the instrument cluster. The "new" cluster will need to be programmed to the pcm. If it is not programmed, the car will start and immediately flood out and die.
