98 ford contour heater wire leading into interior fuse box

Hello..i need help with possible reason why my heater wire into interior fuse box wants to overheat at connection. i replaced wire(red and green with connector) cut from another car at junkyard. this remedied problem since other connector melted. but i found sometimes my heater stops so i looked again closer and where connector goes the prong for red wire on fuse box side is corroded, i need to know if there is a reason for this from behind fuse box, the prong right next to it is fine, which has something to do with fuel pump i think. i am without heat until i can find out what may be the culprit of the corrosion with this prong. thank u very much

Corrosion can cause a week connection .if the wire you replaced it with was used it could have had the (cancer ) inside already

98 contour repair manual

You don't need a repair manual if you know the basic's of automotive repair . You just need wiring diagrams an fuse box layouts . You can find those here free http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model ,engine ! Under system click on electrical distribution .Then under subsystem click on fuse panel . Click the search button then the first blue link . This shows relay positions in the under hood fuse box. The PCM power relay supply's B+ voltage to the fuel pump relay , PCM - engine computer ,mass air flow sensor an someother thing's .

Is there a fuze for the ac for A 99 ford contour

Check in Power distribution box (engine compartment) position R3 for Air Conditioning...

A blown fuse can be identified by a break in the wire. All fuses are a push fit.

In Passenger Compartment fuse box... five reserve fuses with different current ratings are attached to the inside cover of the power distribution box in case of emergency fuse replacement. Check R14 for Heater blower motor...

Position 30, 30 AMP for Heater blower motor

None of the electrical works on the interior of the car. The heater fan, the radio, the dash lights, etc.

Start by checking the fuses and relays. There is more than one fuse box in Fords - one inside the car and one under the hood. IF the fuses are OK, then a harness may have come apart. You would need to trace the wiring under/behind the dash. Does the car start OK?

Check the fuses first, if they are all good, check for a loose ground wire.
