To do a complete tune up you will need to replace all the spark plugs (gaped to 1.1mm), all the spark plug wires, the air filter, the fuel filter, and if your truck has one, the pcv valve. If you have never replaced the drive belt I would do that. Replacing the belt wont help with the performance but it will save you a lot of trouble later down the road.

The spark plugs you should use are NGK plugs. Those are designed for Japanese cars and trucks. Don't get the cheapest spark plug wires either. Mid grade wires will work fine but not from Auto Zone. All the other parts I listed are not as specific. You can pick and choose which parts you would like get and how much money you want to spend.

I hope this has been helpful. Please leave some good feedback. Thanks!

I have a 1996 with 140,000. I have done several tune ups over the years. I replaced the spark plugs with Bosch and autolite Platinums, on Toyos try the NGK or the premium brand at the parts store, you have gotten your moneys worth out of the old ones, the boots will be hard to remove, and will probably tear. I purchased the MSD race wires and improved my mileage. All filters, air, pvc, oil, etc. Have used Pennsoil High mileage, but if you have used sythetic at any time stick with it, dont change it back, if you started with mobil 1 do not change to any other. distributor cap and that should about wrap it up. If the serpentine belt shows any signs of wear cracking etc. It needs to be replaced, if it is the original, definatly replace now it will take no time at all to do it, just find the routing sticker b4 you take it off or remember pulley sequence. Feel the tensioner bearing and force of pully while belt is removed and replace if any squeaks or tensioner feels loose. Good luck.

I personally would replace the plugs,  wires, distribuator cap and rotor. If the rubber has never ben replaced, I woud replace all belts and hozes. As far as brand of plugs. I am not of the school that it makes any difference. If the motor is now using oil then yes a high milage (higher weight ) oil is in order.  As to the engine light This may or may not take car of it. The most commn item going out for Emissions is the oxygen  sensor.  I hope I have covered all that you asked. My PU is just ready to turn 200k

My 4.7litre v8 2000 tundra won't speed it stop working when i try to speed

First of all I have to say this, but you shouldn't be speeding. Now, with that said, the tundra is speed is governed and can be bypassed. I believe there is a green 40amp fuse by the battery for the abs. If you remove that then it should lift the governor, but you also no longer have abs, and a working speedometer. Should only be recommended for on the track. Hope that helps.

The transmission is shifting hard into overdriveat low and high speeds check engine light is on running bad

Hi there lov2trk. The first thing you need to do is take your truck to a auto parts store like NAPA or autozone to have the trouble code from the check engine light read. The large chain parts stores will read the codes for free. It sounds like you have some solenoid issues.

Pull the intake tube off the front of the engine at the throttle body and clean the gunk out of the throttle body with some carb cleaner and a toothbrush. Be careful where tou spray the cleaner. And make sure you open the butterfly to clean behind it. It should be the first thing to try, since it's the cheapest and easiest thing that I can think of. It worked for me. I had 203,000 on my 2000 Tundra SR5 (V8 - 4WD)

How to fix my 2000 toyota tundra brake prolem

Chatter is caused by brake pad vibration, they make a paste that you put on the back of the brake pads to reduce it or make it go away, another thing that causes it is the rotors were no finished properly when they were turned, another issue is poor quality brake pads, I have always used Wagner or Raybestos brand they are the best and have anti squeak/chatter materials in the pad material.
