Starting problems I have a 89 Camaro, v6, sometimes it will start sometimes it won't. At first I thought maybe it was the shieldguard for the starter, but it has set for 2 days without being started and I went out and it started so I moved it 50 ft and a bit later I went out to start it and turn it around but it wouldn't start, so I am figuring the shieldgaurd isn't it. I know it could be the ignition switch but also could it have something to do with either the security system or even the key? My sister has the same car and she had to replace a censor in the area of the oil pan. Any help would be appreciated Jill from Florida

Make sure it is all the way in park, or try starting it in nuetral. could be start/nuetral safety switch if the transmission is automatic.

Help I'm confused as heck I have a 89 v6 Camaro it

You can get the battery tested at Autozone,Advance, and Oreilys for free. Later, once you find out if the battery is alright, and if you can get the car started, drive back to one of the stores and get the starter tested on the car. Or you can pull the starter and take it along with the battery and have both benchchecked.

You could have timing issues in the Camaro which would make it hard to turn over. But the v-8 Dodge usually has a gear system in their starters that increases the Torque in the starter drive. This feature can account for the ease of starting the Dodge with the Camaro battery.

Also check your starter Relay in the Camaro. You may be losing Voltage before the juice reaches the starter with a fried Relay.

Hope my solution helps.

Also while driving engine will miss and seems transmission is slipping. My problems in these areas getting worse. Car has 44,000 miles. For what I paid for this car new ($16,000) I must say it has had many problems.

I have a 91 camaro 3.1 V6 has spark fuel and power to the injector but wont start just wondering what it could be

sometimes it is the ecm which is the computer that goes bad and can no longer sends signals to the starter to turn over. sometimes could be the firing order or timing. check these things out.

92 RS Camaro, Replaced battery and now car has no power?

are your battery post bolts clean and tight, my 89 rs ran fine untill i decided i wanted shiny new battery bolts, when i put them in and tightened them down my car had no power at all, i checked how tight they were, and they were TIGHT so i wiggled the black cable and re tightened it and bam my lights turned on, tryied starting it, and it started, sometimes you just gotta make sure the connection is really good, not just how tight it is, also check your ground wires, there are a few but the main 2 are located at the front pass side next to the batt, and on the back firewall going from the bottom pass head to the firewall, hope that helps, if not comment back
