I have had my truck gel up on me when it was -25 degrees F. When I got it running again, the truck did not idle very smoothly. If I step on the accelerator, the vibration goes away until I drive steady at 45 to 60 mph. The truck then shakes until I let off the pedal or step on it hard. My fuel milage also went thru the floor (from 14 to 6.5 mpg). Any ideas

I found the problem with my 2006 F350. It did not idle very smoothly, vibrated at 45 to 60 mph, and got poor milage. I brought it in and found the issue under warrantee. I had five of eight injectors bad. No wonder it was running bad.

Why does my 89 ford bronco loose power and backfire after 45 mph

Tip

Loss in engine power, sluggish responses, low top speed, etc.

If your car has
  1. Poor fuel responses
  2. Lost its "power"
  3. Low RPM
  4. Lower top speed
  5. Burns a lot of fuel
Then it could be because of carbon build-ups in your engine's combustion chamber. This is left behind with unburned fuel. It causes poor acceleration, a loss in power, lower top speed, and burns more fuel than it really has too. Not to mention causes smoke belching.

The best way to get rid of that would be to have a carbon ridding solution injected into the combustion chamber. The solution will liquify the carbon and other build-ups, which would then restore the "power" of your car. You'll get better acceleration, higher rpm and top speed, save fuel, etc. have a mechanic do it for you. It's alot cheaper and faster than having the engine overhauled (overhaul could trigger "loose compression").

This engine is fully electronically controlled, so you need the dealer to do a full diagnostic of the engine control system, it is the only way to get to the bottom of this. Make sure you can show the dealer exactly what is going on otherwise if they can't duplicate the concern and no fault codes are present they can't fix it.
